According to BA we have just signed Jon Zeringue. Terms of the deal has not yet been released. I have liked this kid for a while and thought he was a steal in the second round.

He went straight to the Jethawks in High-A ball, will suit up tomorrow evening when they get back home. That's good - Wally Backman deserved a slugger to fill the recent gap when Conor Jackson and Carlos Quentin went to El Paso.

Conor is already making a fair bid to go to Tucson; I may not have to make the El Paso trip after all.

Those kids sure can hit. But I dont think that you rush them quite yet. Although sending Conor up now might not be rushing him at all.

Disagree. These guys played college ball and are more ready than a high school player. Look at a guy like Pujols(sp?).

Playing in his first game tonight - got an rbi.

Also - this week's BA Hot Prospect Report:

14. Carlos Quentin, of, Double-A El Paso (Diamondbacks)
Now batting .400 with 13 RBIs in 12 games for El Paso, Carlos must be wondering what opposing pitchers have against him, as he recorded (or suffered) his 30th hit-by-pitch this week, which at least helps raise his season on-base percentage to .436.

15. Conor Jackson, of, Double-A El Paso (Diamondbacks)
Like Quentin, Jackson has thrived in his promotion to Double-A, batting .349 in 12 games with just three strikeouts. In 147 career minor league games, Jackson has scored 115 runs while driving in 120.

Just an update - our draft guys sure do pick well.
Jon Zeringue AB 30 BA .467 OBP .500 SLG .600 OPS 1.100 :D

Small sample, but this kid landed on his feet hitting and hasn't stopped.

Word is we won't even be discussing a deal with Steven Drew until end of July. Guess Boros wants to sign him for a Sept. call-up.
