"There's a lot of names on waivers," Arizona general manager Josh Byrnes
said. "We measured a lot of things. What if Player A would be traded, specifically to teams in our division? What is our interest in that player? We essentially, some by accident, some by design, got depth and insurance so that if we had injuries with our pitching, we're a lot more covered today than we were a couple of days ago."

haha so is he calling Kim or Cirillo an accident? If anything it would probably be Cirillo, because we were actually looking for a pitcher. Just thought that was interesting....

Why in the world would Byrnes go out of his way to block another team from getting Cirillo and chance getting stuck with him? Far be it for me to question Byrnes, but this doesn't make much sense. We're now left with only 3 natural outfielders, and no one to use as a defensive replacement for Upton in the late innings, now that we know he's gonna need one.

I don't get it, Cirillo is not productive enough to worry about him going to the Rockies, Pads or Dodgers. He wouldn't make any difference. Just like he's not going to make a difference for us.

Could it be perhaps that they took kim or cirillo because otherwise they might have been involved in a trade to bring back someone better? I'm not sure how it all works, but maybe one of the guys we picked up was waived before the other one(s) to be involved. When we picked whoever it was up, it might have nixed that trade. Just a thought, but I'm probably wrong.
