3.9 yards per carry, 4.1 ypc, and 3.6 ypc over the last 3 years is pretty mediocre.

Lets not forget we still have Ryan Williams. We need another back to split reps, but also don't forget that Arians offense doesn't rely on a single power back, an he designs plays to suit his players. Vick Ballard's success late season is a good example. We will be rb by committee and Mendenhall is a good guy to have on that committee.

When was this? Too old or prone to fumbling maybe but never heard him considered damaged goods because of prior injuries.

not injuries so much as being "shell-shocked". Lost his confidence. Stuff like that

On top of the fact that San Diego excels at applying pressure is the small matter of Warner becoming easily shell-shocked. If the Chargers relentless pass rush can get to Warner early, he'll have that "deer in the headlights" look that donned his face for most of the past four seasons. He'll get rid of the ball too early and to the wrong spot, start fumbling every third play, and begin to hear footsteps by the midpoint of the first quarter. It cannot be overstressed how important it is for the Cardinals to protect Warner and give him a clean pocket to throw from.

that's a pre-game matchup by scout.com of us v. Chargers in 2006

I didn't have it 100% accurate but once he didn't show up, he was done in Pittsburgh and everyone wanted it that way. At least that's what this guy on ESPN or NFLN was saying.

Right. The thing is, I think the Steelers FO and coaching staff is really starting to screw the pooch. They haven't been drafting well lately, and they're starting to make head scratcher moves. There's some bad management starting to happen behind doors, it seems to me.

Wallace earned the big contract--and granted, he's a loudmouthed diva--and they turned around and gave almost the exact contract Wallace wanted to Brown, which is going to bite them in the ass big time as he isn't nearly as good without someone like Wallace to stretch the field for him. From that day on, Tomlin pretty much drove Wallace out the door.

Mendenhall had fumbling issues, sure, but so did the whole roster full of running backs, yet Mendenhall becomes a healthy scratch. The writing was on the wall with him before he decided not to come to the stadium for that game. I kind of don't blame him, even though it wasn't a smart move.

Now they're getting ready to let their top CB go in FA because they like one of the younger ones--which is just a lame attempt at an excuse. They haven't managed the cap well, and it's killing them. Oh, but they brought Ramon Foster back, so there's that lol

I just think they're making silly decisions and it's going to hurt them...and I'm okay with that :D

I'm not excited at all for Mendenhall, since he seems to have gone a little crazy... and I don't like retread running backs.

But, I don't think we're getting Reggie Bush, and we need someone.

This.

EDIT: Would much rather have Steven Jackson than Mendenhall.

Michael Turner............the Todd Heap of running backs(referring to the speed factor).

The more I investigate Mendenhall the less I like him. Do we really need another running back with suspect durability? Fool's gold! Wouldn't touch him for anything more than the veteran minimum and with Denver and Miami interested that ain't happening.

Steven Jackson isn't a fit here. His speed is diminishing, and he doesn't have a ton left. He will be with a contender.

As for Michael Turner, he should retire. He has very little value unless a team is in a desperate spot on account of injuries.

I'd be ok with Mendenhall. He did some nice things in Arians offense in Pittsburgh. Plus he's 27, not an aging ex Steeler like Porter, Fanaca, Eason or the others.

We need variety in the backfield - a bell cow who can line up deep 2/3 of the time (Mendenhall, R Williams or possibly Bush?), a passing down back with home run ability (Cribbs? Bush? Williams?), a short-yardage option (Mendenhall? Some other FA?), and a couple of all-purpose backup depth guys (Powell, Smith).

Nitpick the guys we're bringing in, but Beanie's no longer here. Neither is LSH. Williams is a durability questionmark. That's the reality we have to deal with. Who's gonna replace Beanie and LSH who are better than the guys we're looking at?

Why? Did u watch any Falcons games? He's incredibly past his prime IMO.

We did sign Emmitt years ago didn't we? :D

But heck, Turner was better than anything we had on the roster last year & right now...but I guess it's not gonna matter because BA will throw 68% of the time like he did in Pit & because we're down 38-7 in most games. Lol
