I see a trade in the D-Backs future from this bit. Why else would they wait two days to call Danny B up unless there were some time related roster moves to be made?
Danny Bautista, who has been with the Sidewinders for more than two weeks, was expected to join Spivey, but will remain with the Sidewinders for a few more days.

Bautista said his agent was told by the D'backs that he will be in their lineup by Wednesday

I hope you're right. Danny was hitting .350 in Tucson and Junior was hitting .273, and we need a rightfielder worse than we need a 2nd baseman at this point. It does seem odd that they would call up Junior now, and not Danny also. I'm greedy, I want Brian Giles.

Maybe Jose Guillen or Reggie Sanders?

How about Sosa? Here is a trade idea. Finley, Mantei, Bautista, and Tracy for Sosa, Daivd Kelton(who could play centerfield), and Jaun Cruz(the next Pedro some say)

i think the only reason Spivey was batting leadoff was to get him as many at bats as possible, but there definately could be another reason

Actually Junior isn't being called up. He's being activated off the DL.

As for Danny Bautista. I thought it was interesting that they mentioned his agent, heh

Fork, I had the same thought driving off this AM - 'WAIT a sec - why would Joe G be talking with Danny and his agent about when he's being recalled?' Plus Danny has a much bigger contract they'd probably like to unload - BUT- we are so thick with middle infielders, and NOT with outfielders, that in that sense dealing Spivey makes more logic. Myself, I'd take Danny over David or Q out there, at this point.

btw - Jose Guillen was caught with a corked bat in 2001, and has been accused by an opponent - but not proved - this year, from what I recently read. He was also not liked in this clubhouse.

No it's not. There have been many other who have done it at one point or another for many different reasons who either denied it that is was there bat or denied doing it all together. Sammy ammitted it , whether you believe his excuses or not, because I do beleive it. Ted Williams also did it for the same reason. So should we call him a cheater and kick him out of the Hall of Fame. To take it a step further, should be also call all the sign stealers and pitcher who scuff up the balls cheaters because according to experts that would affect the games more. I could see if he had more corked bats and any of the others in teh hall had corks, but they did not and I am sure that most everyone on this board would love to see Sammy in RF for the D-Backs.

I can see it know,
1-Consoul-3b
2-Cintron-SS
3-Sosa-RF
4-Gonzo-LF
5-Hillenbrand-1B
6-Kata-2B
7-Spivey-CF-Finley was part of the trade to get Sosa
8-Moeller-C

If a trade is made it will most likely be a pitcher or pitchers and a outfielder, most likely Bautista. I have a feeling Hammock will be sent down this week when everyone else comes up. I sure would like to see Tracy get a shot at third while Shea goes to first.

Well I'm of the opinion that all these position players coming back are disrupting the winning chemistry they had going.

The Cubs aren't going to trade their most popular and marketable player while they are still a playoff worthy team

it's real easy to believe that, but the fact is, our rookies just went down. cintron's injured, kata and hammock, like so many young players, just can't hit anything that doesn't have a flat trajectory. among the rookies, only our pitching has held up.

p.s. why the heck is myers still here? he can't even do his job anymore. that home run to klesko was huge. we already have oropesa and randolph. why do we need myers? the guy is just too ineffective.

i think Q and Myers really should go. the rest...i dunno...
