Did you stay at a Holiday Inn last night?Tyrann Mathieu will be a Cardinal for the 2018 season.

Because?
What Juza said.Because?
POST – 6/1 Release:
2018 Dead Cap: $3,100,000
2019 Dead Cap: $6,200,000
2018 Cap Savings: $11,000,000
The one thing missing from the pre 6/1 cut is that he'll save $14mill in 2019 being off the books. Unless the Cards are looking to land an expensive FA - which I doubt - I don't see why they'd cut him post 6/1. Take the 2018 hit and free up as much space for 2019.FS/CB -Tyrann Mathieu – Has a 14.1 Million cap hit for 2018
If he is a Pre 6/1 Release here are the cap hits.
2018 Dead Cap: $9,300,000
2018 Cap Savings: $4,800,000

Just finished up DMing him regarding Mathieu at this current price. Seems pretty sure of himself that unless that number drops, Mathieu will be gone.

Right, but I was saying he's most likely to be a pre 6/1 cut. If he's pre 6/1, the money (guaranteed, bonus, prorated) is accelerated to all count towards 2018. Since he'd be off the books, there'd be $14mill added to 2019's cap space since the contract would be terminated. He has no guaranteed money left on his contract. It's all about the dead money cap hit the cards would have to absorb this year 9.3 million. If he is a post 6/1 you can push about 6 mil of it to the next year. So the truth of it is you could save the 14 mil but only spend about 5 to replace him, or put towards another position.
probably not. Teams are allowed to release a guy early and designate him as a post june 1st release. But would be paid the 5 mil in march.
Yeah, but they have to carry his contract until June 1 like he’s still on the roster. The purpose of these roster bonuses is to force teams to make an early decision. The Cards wait, Mathieu gets the bonus and guaranteed seasons.probably not. Teams are allowed to release a guy early and designate him as a post june 1st release.
aahh..okay... that makes sense.... I aint a fan of spreading it out anyway...if they are gonna do it we should just take the hit and be done with it alreadyYeah, but they have to carry his contract until June 1 like he’s still on the roster. I never put too much weight into what Jurecki writes/claims.
Not!Tyrann Mathieu will be a Cardinal for the 2018 season.
A team wanting a DB with almost zero cover skills, but decent blitzing ability, will take HB off our hands I'm guessing.
Has something to do with jurecky being always wrong?
