I've been playing World Series Baseball 2k3 on XBOX the last two weeks...doing franchise mode, and started off a sad 1-6. Just learning how to hit, etc.

I was mostly annoyed though, because I want my good hitters to have good averages and stats. Like I have Finley up to 5 stolen bases in 8 games.

But with Gonzo, I was having just a hard time. He was hitting about .176 with one homer and 2 RBI through 7 games.

So I played last night again, right before bed, against the Dodgers, who are leading my division...and with me in control, Gonzo hit not 1, not 2, but 3 HOME RUNS, with 8 RBI!

And it didn't strike me as funny until this morning when I realized that Gonzo hit 3 homers last night in REAL LIFE...

Thought that was kind of a weird coincidence...

Why is it the best?

Now that you say that, I don't want to continue playing my season, lol.

I have had the privelege of also playing this game, and it really does kick butt.

I want to get it for the PC - anyone know if it's any different or anything?

I liked the High Heat franchises, but I have to be honest that the baseball game market sucked. Football was nicely done, but baseball left alot to be desired....

It got boring hitting a homer every other at bat and having Randy Johnson MAYBE strike one guy out a game

Dont' get me wrong, I like world series 2k3, but MVP baseball 2004 is almost perfect. The pitching is as fun as the hitting, and the realism is awesome. I created my own team, and am already up to the Yankees series in about two weeks, so as you can tell, I have played quite a bit. Rent it if you don't believe me, but I haven't met anyone who doesn't like the game.

assemble your troops and practice up, we should get some head to head ASFN matches on xbox live, that would be cool.

2K3 seems pretty realistic to me, but I haven't tried MVP.

Maybe I'll rent it...but I'm loving 2K3 right now...getting the hang of it...after starting 0-5, I'm 2-1 in my last three, and am beating the Dodgers 12-1 right now, behind 3 homers from Sexson, and one from Matt Williams.

Do you have 2k3 or 2k4 aka ESPN Baseball?

I have both ESPN Baseball and MVP 2004 for X-Box and they aren't even comparable, IMO. ESPN blows MVP away. The only thing about MVP that I would say is better than ESPN is graphics. In game play, it is no contest. ESPN plays much more realistically than MVP, IMO. Plus, ESPN is a lot less buggy and has online play on X-Box Live.

I have World Series Baseball 2K3...which does have the ESPN Sportscenter intro, etc.

Some D'backs screens:

MVP Baseball: Kinda washed out looking, but the only one i could find. It looks GREAT on my tv.

ESPN Baseball:

Notice the lack of detail in ESPN. MVP has the BOB down almost perfectly, but it's lacking the dirt going to the mound! Other than that it looks fantastic.

MVP rocks! i've got 66 bombs with Sexson through 115 games, and Shea has like 35! But I had to trade Randy to open up cap space and try to make a run at Beltran in the off season......(sigh) I can dream right???????
