They say timing is everything, and who knows when the Superbowl will be played in Arizona again. As we BASK in that Cardinal light (not Leight), and as we ask for just one more victory, I just want to give the man some props. He's worked for the Arizona Cardinals almost as long as I've been a fan of them, worked his way up, and I still can't even figure out what he does best.
The talent he has brought here is amazing, and it's a custom fit job because Arizona dances to it's own beat. You have the Coaching staff he landed us, we are talking about a HeadCoach that is almost a shoe in for HCOY again, and Todd Bowles should be doing AT&T commercials because nobody dials it up like he does. But back to the Players...
Our Defense hasn't allowed a TD in over 6 quarters. This is a defense I watched everybody give up on early in the season, some gave up on them before the season even started. But I like to call them "The Adjustment Bureau", because after halftime we impose our will on teams. The depth that Todd Bowles has, even after all the injuries is incredible. The mentality the team has is excellent, "next man up" is real. But we have talent, top shelf talent, and our DC gets surgical when it comes to using it.
Hybrid Players, Cannon can play anywhere it seems, Honey buzzes all around, Peterson can do it all, Cro even went after the QB this year. Defensive line is stingy, banged up, and just continues to impress. The whole defense is a nightmare for OCs. Horton had recent success with this defense too, but only the core (players) remain, yet the results are the same, and all of this... just in the nick of Kiem.
Offense? Long time fans know that we led the League in sacks taken for years in a row when Graves was here. Even part time fans know that the Arizona Quarterbacks were like the weather in Hawaii, if you don't like it, no worries, it will change in 20 minutes. Steve Kiem did what was necessary, he secured two start worthy QBs, it was brilliant, and it's the only reason we are still on this magic carpet ride right now. Stanton and Palmer have put their hearts and souls into a team that truly believes, and it's kind of why they got injured, they put it all on the line.
Receivers?? Deepest team in the League. Folks worry about whoever isn't catching the ball every week, and that changes weekly because defenses can't put their best on all 3 of our main guys, and that's not even counting Jaron or Ellington as a receiver. The envy of the League baby, and Steve Kiem goees and gets another huge steal in the Draft with John Brown, possible Rookie of the Year!!
The O-line just passed the hardest test out there right now, they didn't give up one dang sack while playing the League's toughest defense. Cooper is there waiting, we can all feel it, but the need isn't there to switch. BA has the talent to protect his QBs for the most part, Veldheer might have been one of Kiem's greatest finds. We haven't even talked about the Forbes money man we have on the Club now. Our contracts and money management has been superb.
The Superbowl is coming, but nobody saw all this coming. 9 and 1, the team believes, the fans believe, and all of this just in the nick of Kiem.
