We have a bevy of very young WRs with tons of potential. I pray that we don't spend a #1 or #2...or even a #3... pick on a WR to add to the mix. What we need is a proven vet, even if he's not a superstar.

Say we do draft a guy like Calico in the second. What does that do to help us? Nothing.

I'd much rather go in with the guys we currently have signed than waste a high round draft pick that we could use to shore up a pourous defense.

If they have to use a pick on WR, please let it be no sooner than the third round...

I will garentee that the Cards do not sign a guy Like Calico in the Second round. No way he is worth it that early in the draft.

I think they will select a WR in the third.

Granted, we very much need to sign a vet WR, and I also agree we should not draft a WR in round 1. Still, why be dead-set against drafting a WR in 2 or even 3? To draft defense, you say? Haven't we done that the past few years? I say if a Bryant Johnson or a Kelly Washington is still there in Round Two, snag him. You'd be getting great value and drafting at a need position. Will he pan out right away? Probably not-most first-year WRs don't.

Now, should we absolutely draft a WR in rounds 2 or 3? No way. You wait and see who's left. I think to automatically rule it out is silly and overreactive, just as saying we absolutely have to is as well.

Granted, we need a vet WR, but are you truly sold on who we have under contract currently? They scare the hell out of me! True, they could be the Packers of next year, but they could very well not be. We likely won't have a true #1 guy this year but, you know, a good prospect in round 2 or 3 could be a #1 the year after.

Let's face it-WR is an area of need and, one way or another, it needs to be addressed.

Kevin Kaspar is very small. I ignore the nonsense posts that list him at 6'.0. When we talked to him in a restaurant, he looked no bigger than 5"9". Sure he looks sculpted but the total weight of that sculpt looks like 170 lbs or less.

I also don't buy into the claims about his speed. The eyeball test says he's quick but not a burner. Smurf receivers tend not to dominate in today's football.

Having lost Martay Jenkins to free agency (our biggest loss to date), we are left with only two WRs with size, speed, youth, and upside: McAddley and Gilmore.

Today, on radio, Rod Graves addressed this issue specifically, and said we would definitely be adding more WRs before camp.

My guess too, like others in this thread is that we draft a WR in round 3 or 4.

Agreed, I think we need one of each; as close to a # 1 vet as possible, and a mid round rookie prospect to bring up the rear. I belive our core depth is set, and that at least one of these guys may distinguish themselves as a number one caliber threat for the future.
