Fresno St looks like the real deal. Man they beat KSU senseless. I am surprised there was not one mention on this board about Troy beating Mizzou. What is up with the Big 12 losing to "non-BCS" schools this weekend?

Well...sorta hard to defend K-State's ooc schedule, but tons of the top schools do the same thing. They just don't get ridiculed as much. Tough being the new kids on the block. ;) KSU prolly plays on avg. one more cup-cake than most, but the last 4-5 years it's been a little better.

Good Teams you left off the list that K-State has played recently ooc.

1. They played USC twice not just once. First one was at USC in 2001 and K-State won. Then USC went to Manhatten the next year (2002), and K-state won that one too. Even though USC had Carsen Palmer and company.

2. Played Cal just last year in the BCA Classic at Arrowhead in KC. K-State won that one as well 42-28.

3. Played Iowa in KC a few years ago. I think '00, but maybe '01. K-State won that one too.

Other decent (or at least "'known") teams KSU has played under Snyder before heading into conference play.
1. Arizona St.
2. Washington
3. Minnesota
4. UNLV
5. New Mexico St.
6. New Mexico
7. Utah St.
8. UTEP
9. Cincinatti
10. Marshall
11. Frenso St.
12. Bowling Green
13. Rice

Of course its where you finish that matters. They may have lost to Marshall last year (with a Freshman back-up qb no-less) but they did play Ohio St. in the BCS Fiesta Bowl after blowing out #1 Oklahoma to win the Big-12 Championship. So it doesn't seem to matter who you play early.

Notables that K-State has beaten in Bowl games the last 5 or so years.
1. Washington
2. Tenneessee
3. Syracuse
4. Arizona St.

Also, might not I add that K-State has the best conference football record in the entire Big-12 since its inception. Yep even more wins than Oklahoma and Texas.

UTEP, Utah St, New Mexico St. and Rice are supposed to help your argument?

Not necessarily. Just pointing out some of the same teams that other schools play and don't get nearly the same treatment and rap that K-State usually does. Heck, Arizona St. plays UTEP and Utah St. almost every year. I don't hear ASU getting criticized.

All I'm saying is that KSU has played at least one "name" team per year out of conference since becoming a legitimate contender the last 4-5 years.
USC (twice)
Cal
Iowa
Frenso St.
Marshall

A far cry from the Eastern Illinois and Indiana State's that so many will have you believe that that's all KSU ever plays.

I've bitched about ASU's nonconference schedule in the past. All the major schools schedule one patsy, at least. I just hate it when they schedule two or three in a season.

I guess I posted that because some K-State people I know are always bitchin about how they get no respect in the polls & at Bowl selection time, so I looked into their NCS to see who they have played.

Since they've been "good", about once every 3 yrs they'll play someone decent.

ASU has scheduled some patsies too - but they've played Notre Dame, Colo State, NC (ok - but when they scheduled them they were good), Iowa, etc.

Okla backed out last year & that's why we scrambled to pick up Utah St I think..

The next several years, ASU plays Georgia, LSU, Boston College, Temple *cough cough*

Asu Adds Wisconsin to Future Football Schedules

TEMPE, Ariz.--Arizona State University has added the University of Wisconsin from the Big Ten Conference to its future football schedules, Sun Devil Director of Athletics Gene Smith announced Wednesday.

The Sun Devils will travel to Madison on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 while the Badgers return to Tempe on Saturday, September 15, 2012.

ASU holds a series record of 2-0 versus Wisconsin, winning 42-16 in 1967 at Madison and 55-7 in 1968 at Tempe.

Arizona State has ventured into the Big Ten for football games lately as it is in the middle of a series with Iowa (2004) and has Northwestern (2004 and 2005) and Illinois (2011 and 2012) in future years.

"We are committed to bringing in the very best football teams that we can schedule," says Smith. "Wisconsin will provide a quality matchup for our fans and for the television networks. Wisconsin is a very nice addition to our future schedules, which already include Notre Dame, Colorado, Brigham Young, Illinois and Northwestern, among others."

ASU, Notre Dame Agree on Football Series

TEMPE, Ariz.-Arizona State University and the University of Notre Dame have signed an agreement to play a future home and home football series, Sun Devil Director of Athletics Gene Smith announced Tuesday.

ASU will travel to play in South Bend on Saturday, October 5, 2013 while the Fighting Irish will visit Tempe on Saturday, October 25, 2014.

" I am thrilled to facilitate this series for our alumni and fan base," says Smith. "We are committed to scheduling quality opponents in football and even though the matchup will take place years from now, it represents the first opportunity to schedule Notre Dame. Many of these series are scheduled years in advance."

Arizona State and Notre Dame have met twice before on the gridiron, with the Irish winning 28-9 in Tempe in 1998 and 48-17 in South Bend in 1999.

Geez, I think they get tons of respect. Some years they'll play no one until the middle of October but will already be ranked Top-15 or even Top-10. How's that not respect? And I know exactly the type of KSU fans your talking about. lol

Although, they have been "screwed" more times than any other school since the inception of the BCS. They've finished a few seasons ranked high enough and eligible enough to be selected for a BCS Bowl game, but have NOT been invited. It took a Big-12 Championship last year to finally get the automatic invite. Can you say tv "powers that be"? :(

Awesome! That's great for ASU and all us fans!

Just for the record...I went to ASU not K-State. I'm origianlly from Kansas, but got out of dodge come college time. Been living here ever since (1991). kinda like it here better. lol But for some reason, KSU is my second favorite college football team, and I still follow 'em.

Also, keep in mind that Bill Snyder has complete "schedule" control. He is very good at a lot of things, but early season scheduling he is not. I was very suprised when he signed 2 games with USC, one with Cal, and one with Iowa. Even Marshall and Fresno were nice surprises for us fans.

ASU is really making some strides, and I hope so badly they finally become the power they "should" be. With that type of schedule, we're really putting ourselves in a position to be noticed. :)

Go Sun Devils! Go Cats (the ones from Kansas)!!! :D

 that's what I was trying to tell them. They said that Nebraska gets all the breaks in BCS selection & they are on even keel w/the Huskers (as in the nation should be afraid of them & respect them like how the Huskers are viewed)

good stuff though!!!!
