During his virtual introductory press conference on Saturday, Kansas City Chiefs fourth-round pick Jalen Royals expressed his excitement about joining the franchise and making his mark in the league.

"Just my why. Making it to the NFL has been a lifelong dream," said Royals, "Playing from JUCO and grindingthere, then getting an offer to Utah State and grinding there. Now, I'm a Chief. Grinding has been my whyright there."

Royals had a breakout season in 2023, finishing with 1,080 receiving yards on 71 receptions and averaging 15.2 yards per catch. He was second in the FBS with a Utah State record 15 receiving touchdowns while starting all 13 games. He believes he can regain his form after an abbreviated 2024 season due to injury and help in the Chiefs' passing attack. "I'm super excited," said Royals. "They've shown that they can be the best offense in the league year in andyear out. I'm extremely excited."

Last season, Royals was named second-team All-Mountain West. He led Utah State with 55 receptions, 834 receiving yards, and tallied six touchdowns while starting seven games.
