GLENDALE, AZ --- The Arizona Sting announced today that the ceremonial ball drop at Friday night’s game versus the Colorado Mammoth will be performed by Boston Red Sox pitcher Keith Foulke.

Foulke, regarded as one of the top relievers in baseball, was a key member of the 2004 Red Sox team that won the World Series. In the playoffs that year, Foulke was a dominant force for the Red Sox, allowing a single run in 14 innings pitched while striking out 19 batters and registering 3 saves. He was on the mound for the final out as Boston captured their first World Series title in 86 years.

A native of South Dakota, Foulke has compiled a career record of 38-33 while amassing 190 saves and a 3.23 ERA over nine seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, and Boston Red Sox.

Friday night’s game at the Glendale Arena is a rematch of last year’s opening round playoff match that was won by Arizona by a score of 16-13. The Sting are currently the only undefeated team in the National Lacrosse League, possessing a perfect record of 3-0. Game time on Friday is 7:30 PM; doors will open at 6:30 PM.
