Kelvin Beachum is remaining in the desert, and he officially signed his contract on Friday. The 14-year veteran offensive tackle re-signed with the Arizona Cardinals and will return for a sixth season with the team. Prior to his time with the Cards, Beachum played with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New York Jets.

The Texas product was drafted in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Steelers and has carved out a nice career for a player won't people wouldn't give a second thought. There are far more stories of played drafted in the late rounds that wash out than the ones of success. The former SMU Mustang is likely returning as an insurance policy for the two starting offensive tackles.

Beachum showed up on the transaction report on Thursday, but today's signing made it official.

The Cards lost both starting offensive tackles, Paris Johnson and Jonah Williams, last season due to knee injuries. Bringing Beachum back on a one-year deal, likely for the league minimum, gives the team some insurance. Arizona finished third in the NFC West at 8-9. They are looking for much bigger accomplishments in year three of the Jonathan Gannon era.
