On Thursday night, Diamondbacks post-game T.V. analyst Ken Phelps was extremely critical of the team's management, after leaving so many runners on base against the struggling Cardinals.

Until they get a middle-of-the-lineup hitter who can drive in runs, nothing is going to change.

Bob Melvin needs to decide on a lineup and give it a chance, especially with so many young hitters.

Where was Tony Clark? Why was he left sitting on the bench?

I can't tell you how much I hate Bob Melvin's failure to make a lineup decision, then let it gel (although I have tried).

Lack of character on his part has caused insecurity and indecision on the part of our players.

I wonder if top management is listening to Phelps. I know I was. :bang:

Not only does Melvin need to go, Seitzer needs to be fired.

How long was Melvin's extension for? If it was just to next season I could see them firing him. We still have a chance at the playoffs... :-/ Sweep the Reds! Sweep the Reds! Damn, I can't watch it tomorrow. Baseball is the most depressing sport to me when you lose.

Of course not, that would make too much sense.

Who is this mythical 3rd or 4th hole hitter that everybody assumes is just sitting out there for the picking?

Mind you it's going to cost us but Mark Texiera is on the block, Adam Dunn should also be available. Both are young and can change a game with a swing of a bat, Texiera also is a GG at 1B.

Teixieria is also a free agent at the end of the season and has never hid his interest in going "home" to Baltimore. So, assuming Arizona DOES make this move and gets him, would it even be worth the time giving up two or three top prospects in exchange for a guy who is going to be here two, three months tops?

Dunn, I'm more inclined to see Arizona acquire, however I can see you guys eating him alive because of his piss poor Batting Average and OBP numbers. If you hated Sexson and Glaus, you'll certainly have a field day with Dunn.

Texeira signing an extension would be a necessary perameter for any deal w/ us, no way we give up talent for a rental.

Funny thing is that I hear Glaus is available again as I believe either SF, LAD, or SD was considering trading for him but trade talks have since cooled.

I would be happy w/ Dunn & Glaus or Dunn and going after A-Rod in FA. We need corner INF's w/ power not guys hitting .250 with 10 HRs combined (Tracy & Jackson). We have the OF, middle INF, C, and have gotten pitching in our farm system all we need are sluggers in the corner spots.

Yeah, good luck getting Teixeira to sign an extension. He's a Boras client, and Boras is asking for Beltran money for him.
