Did UCLA tell another kid to scram or did a kid decide to look elsewhere as the article indicated?
I'm guessing Howland told Williams they were going to over-recruit him and he probably wouldn't get much if any PT so he decided to scram. Happens all the time. Recent examples here locally include Jesus Verdejo, JP Prince, Kraidon Woods, Christian Polk, and probably one or both of Brendon Lavender and Garland Judkins soon enough.

Russ, did you hear about this. My guess is that UCLA is going for bust on Josiah Turner, but who else did they lose, Tyler Lamb?

The other was Taylor King according to the article.

I just got back from Mexico fishing a week, I don't have the whole story but I'm pretty unhappy about this. My take is that there were people telling Williams he should decommit he's not good enough for UCLA and he got tired of hearing it and decommitted. From what I've seen I actually like Williams he's not a pure PG type kid but I think he can play. I have no inside info on this but I just get the impression people kept telling him he wouldn't play much at UCLA and I don't mean the coaching staff because everything I've read is the coaching staff was still very high on Williams.

But yes UCLA is going hard after other PG's, McCallum, Turner, Dinwiddie and some others and that may have been a factor. But I don't know the full story it may have been a case of someone trying to do Williams a favor by telling him he'd never play at UCLA.

UCLA fans have been pretty hard on the kid for awhile now suggesting UCLA should persuade him to reopen or just yank the offer, I really hate that sort of talk. I have no problem with a coach saying we'll honor the commitment but we don't see you playing much, but I don't think this came from the coaches with Williams.

I figure of the 3, Turner is the most likely to commit, not that the other 2 aren't interested but Turner's decommittment from ASU kind of let the cat out of the bag.

Not anytime soon IMHO. Turner decommitted largely because he felt he didn't go through the recruiting process enough, he committed so early and then later realized there were now a lot of other schools who were interested if he were still being recruited. I wouldn't expect him to decide to commit again anytime soon, until at least after his junior season.

Honestly some of the same thing happened with Taylor King, he verballed to UCLA so early, and his dad admitted Taylor got tired of watching teammates being wooed by schools and he was ignored because he was already verballed to UCLA. Turner is a young kid who can't make up his mind what HS to attend let alone what college.

I don't think he decommitted to commit to UCLA, I think he wants to be recruited again and make his mind up.

Is there any truth to what Mao sad about ASU might be out of contention, if so I would think its a 2 school race between UCLA & CAL.

I don't know if ASU is out or not, haven't heard a thing about that, but I did read that Cal is doing very well with him. I think UA is in the hunt too so I think those 2 and UCLA are all in the running. I also think Kansas is and quite possibly UCONN, Kansas and UCONN were the teams that started showing interest when the original rumors broke that he was going to decommit.
