Hopefully, Davis resigns w/ an NFC West foe... That way we can ring up whoever it is to the tune of 200 yards on the ground twice a year!

ESPN's Expert Take:

Clancy is an undersize defensive tackle who has a non- stop motor and an excellent work ethic. He was used primarily as a run stopper on first and second downs. He has good initial quickness off the ball, plays with leverage and he showed some strength to hold the point of attack. He is a one gap penetrator that has good lateral movement and decent change of direction skills. He did a good job on defensive line stunts, is a wrap tackler and he has the ability to make plays down the line. However, Clancy is not your prototype nose tackle. He lacks the size, bulk and overall strength for the position. He lacks good defensive line technique. He lacks good recognition skills and he has trouble locating the ball at times. He plays too high, he as poor leverage at times and he does not uses his hands effectively. He has hard time getting off blocks, he can not disengage quickly and he gets pushed back off the line of scrimmage. He struggles to hold the POA on double teams, he does not protect his legs vs scoop blocks and he is on the ground to much. He does not have good pass rush ability. He lacks power and lower body strength to push the pile. He does not have a variety of pass rush moves and he is often stuck at the LOS. Overall, Clancy is a try hard guy who does not have the ability to be an every down starter. He is a one gap penetrator and not a read and react type player. He is a change of pace guy who provides decent depth at the position. He has been around long enough to show his wares as a starter and he has reached his potential. Do not see much upside.

That isnt Clancy at all.

Who ever wrote that has never seen him play with that write up.

i would just like to add thank god that the off season is offically started for the cardinals. now we have something new to talk about. if a deal in principal going to get done for james, then it happen before the day is over. if james leaves, then i expect he will not be signing with the cardinals.

What does him only starting one year have to do with anything.

Kemo wasnt a starter until last year either.

I think this is the fastest free agent signing by the Cardinals, ever.

He seems to be a rotation guy along with RK but an upgrade. We're on the clock at least.

I don't this necessarily follows. I bet Davis could still return if he's willing to take the deal the Cards offered him. It was backup money type of offer, so the Cards had planned this all along.

Clancy is a nice pick, he is an upgrade at run stopping which is a need for us. His improvement along with Will Joseph really let Osi pin his ears back as a Pass-rusher. As an added bonus he played in the Pitt. 3-4 system for several years as a DT.

As of today RK is not on the team and we have not made an offer to him.

It is believed that we did tender Langston Moore and Bulman though. But it cant be verified as that info has not been released yet.
