Kentucky Women's basketball is a fourth-seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face off against Conference USA champion 13-seed Liberty in the first round.
The Wildcats (22-7) finished the regular season 11-1 against non-conference opponents. Their only loss came against North Carolina on Dec. 5.
Liberty (26-6) is 2-17 all-time in its previous NCAA Tournament games. The only time it made it out in the first round was the 2004-2005 season, when it advanced to the Sweet 16.
Flames head coach Carey Green is the winningest coach in Liberty Athletics history in any sport. In his 26th season at Liberty, he holds a 591-239 record.
SURVIVOR POOL: Free to enter. $2,500 to win. Can you survive the madness?
Kentucky 72, Liberty 63: Liberty enters the NCAA Tournament on an 11-game win streak and as a conference champion. They fared well against conference opponents, but with losses against Duke, Tennessee, and Grand Canyon University on their record, they haven't shown they can win games against top-tier teams. Kentucky will be playing on its home court and motivated after being eliminated from the SEC Tournament in its first game.
The Wildcats and Liberty will play on Friday in Lexington at Memorial Coliseum.
