Don't know if anyone heard Chris Carpenter's update after Video Game Weekly tonight, but I reported that Phoenix is officially out of trading for KG. The Suns are no longer looking to trade Shawn Marion or even thinking about trading Amare Stoudamire. There is a deal that I have heard that is legit, that will land Phoenix in the top 10 picks.

Edit:
I have been told that by tomorrow's draft, Phoenix will have the #8 pick. This has not been reported yet, but the supposed deal is that Phoenix will trade picks #24 & #29 in the 1st rd and power forward Kurt Thomas to Charlotte for their #8 pick. The Suns would then select either Cory Brewer, Jeff Green, or Joakim Noah.

if KT is going out, is noah the wise choice for the suns?

Probably, especially down the road. Does he make the team better right now? Probably not, but few rookies would. He can run and pass well, and is a good shot blocker and rebounder. If he could develop a consistent elbow and baseline jumper like KT, he'd be good.

I know its greedy, but I hope the Suns can do the same deal but hold onto KT and move Banks, but thats just wishful thinking.

The problem is that he could very well be taken at 7 by the Wolves. I hope/assume this is the type of deal the Suns will wait until during the draft to do, they'll want to know who's available.

Why would Dantoni trade for someone who cant shoot. He has said over and over again that they key to his offense is having 5 shooters on the floor.

Are you insinuating that Kevin Garnett can't shoot?

Unless we sign PJ Brown to replace Kurt, then kiss our chances of beating San Antonio goodbye once again.

i am fine with this deal. in fact, more than fine with it. i suspect the plan is to draft one of the players we've been coveting, sign pj and hopefully sign grant hill. that makes us much deeper than last year. i'm also surprised we could hold onto next year's atl pick in the deal. atl will select yi jianlian and still suck and we get a premier pg in next year's draft.

Have there been rumors they might take Yi? I thought it was pretty sure that they would take Horford and that Boston would take Yi.

He had quite a series against Detroit in the playoffs where he was the Bulls only low post threat. He had a 20 point 5 rebound game and a 15 point 8 rebound game.

Why would the Bobcats would be interested marginal rental player and two late picks for a Top 10 selection?
They won't. Wishful thinking. Unless, it is as someone mentioned, a move to stay above the minimum. Then they get an expiring contract and a player to mentor some of their young ones. A good combination if that is the need.

If the Suns swap Kurt for basically Noah we are in trouble. They had better go after PJ Brown or have something else up our sleeve.

I agree with whoever it was who said that unless we replace Kurt Thomas we have no shot in beating San Antonio. Without Kurt Thomas it's likely San Antonio would have swept the Suns this postseason. it's not like he shut down Tim Duncan... far from it actually. But during spurts he was able to make things a little more difficult and more importantly his rebounding and shooting were big.

P.J. Brown is the one guy I think it might help the Phoenix Suns even more. He has a nice jump shot like Kurt Thomas, and he actually has a reputation for defending Tim Duncan well.

Here's my problem with all of this though. Everything I've heard indicates that the Phoenix Suns are hoping to get Grant Hill and P.J. Brown for around of minimum. I just don't see that happening. I'll be surprised if they get either of them for much less than the mid-level exception much less both of them.

Paul Coro wrote 2 days ago that Grant Hill was in Phoenix (possibly house hunting).

I think it is a given that we sign Grant for the veteran minimum. If Marion is traded Grant will even start.
I can't see him and his family going from the nice weather in Orlando to Detroit at the end of his career.

He has made enough money anyway and wants to work for TV after his playing career.

It's beginning to worry me that we have agreed about this and some other recent issues lately.

I think I have started by transformation over to the darkside. :)

I so wanted to enjoy the Suns draft this year, however, I'm beginning to fear that the Suns got so distracted by plan B (KG) that they have forgotten about plan A (letting the draft come to them). This is starting to remind me of last year and beyond. If the Suns do any salary dumps with a pick I hope they are intelligent enough to demand a 2nd round pick in return. I hope all this research in the draft doesn't go into the dumpster.

we've heard reports that Sarver didn't necessarily need to hsvae 9 million off the books, just 5ish mill, right? Well, I'm hoping that by doing a KT deal, that his 8 million coming off the books allows us to actually offer Hill and Brown more than minimum, splitting the MLE or most of it's between each other. That way, the KT deal actually allows us to improve our depth and get a little under the cap. still dubious as to whether or not that will actually happen, but if KT's gone, Brown is the much bigger need than Hill. We've got no shot against SA if Amare/Boris are the only bigs on the team. I can't believe we're really THAT stubborn/stupid.
