He has had a fantastic year. I suspect that given my choice I'd still take Duncan because he is a better defender, but statistically Garnett has had a better year:

Kevin Garnett has got to be at least 7'1". His statistics are better than Tim Duncan's, but I think I would rather have TD any day of the week. I think he's better on both ends of the court even though the numbers might not support it.

Duncan can't bend his knees anymore if he ever could. It's funny though because his jumpshots are better than his freethrows.

I'd take the emotional KG over the robotic TD anyday.

I said I'd take Duncan over KG because Duncan is better on defense. KG is not as strong as Duncan in the paint. But in any case, they are both worthy.

Yeah, Worthy was only 6'9"-230.

Didn't the Lakers have 3 guys in their starting lineup who were 6'9"-230 for a few years, Magic, Worthy, and Green? Plus Kareem, who was a little bigger. And Byron Scott.

Four of their starters outweighed our Center.

It really was an "odd" team where the point guard was bigger than the power forward. :doi:

If the suns sign Kobe in the offseason, and don't part with JJ or Marion, they could have a pretty tall starting lineup.

Assuming JJ slides over to the point, and the suns resign Dice, or maybe pickup someone like Foyle to play center, no one would be under 6'7". It would cause a lot of teams matchup problems. And smaller guards wouldn't really bother us defensively because both JJ and Kobe are great defenders, and if the pg was to quick, we could bring in Barbosa or Vujanic.

You know, I think that 6' 11" might be about right for Garnett in "NBA height." Because he is so lanky, he looks very tall. But I saw him standing close to O'Neal a while back and he was clearly giving up a good few inches. I think he's just a bit under Duncan's height.

Tim Duncan has joined Michael Jordan and Shaq in the pantheon of players who don't get considered for the MVP because if they were, they might win every year.

Since Duncan is ineligible, Garnett is clearly the right choice IMO. He's got the stats, and there's no question he makes his teammates look better than they really are.
