We may have a new kicker.

Urban:the Cardinals have two restricted free agents-to-be in kicker Chandler Catanzaro and tight end Darren Fells. Neither player is expected to receive a tender offer, but both are candidates to return to the roster depending on their market value.

Jurecki reported this morning that he expects both to be back on lower deals and to add another kicker to compete with Catanzaro.

I read somewhere that BA&SK have been courting Phil Dawson.

I'd rather have Robbie Gould

There has been reported BA&SK interest in Gould too.

Dawson is 41, but he's not the oldest kicker in the NFL thanks to Adam Vinateri.

Dawson in 2016 (SF): 18/21 FG 33/34 XPT. Pretty consistent.

If you are worried about kickoffs---(he only kicked 4 touchbacks)---Matt Wile is a very good kickoff man---big leg.

Cat has to be the biggest enigma kicker I've ever seen. The guy misses his share of extra points, kicks a 60 yard FG but misses a 24 yard FG. He's basically a poor man's Joe Nedney.

I'd take Santos in a heartbeat but KC already tendered him.

Maybe Cards use a low round draft pick on ASU Kicker Zane Gonzalez.

Zane is good, but I will throw a chair through a window if we use a pick on a kicker.

Well, considering we once wasted a 1st round pick(Steve Little) and a 2nd round pick(John Lee) that ended up biting us in the ass, I'm with you on that.

I agree and I will give you one name, Roberto Aguayo. The Buccaneer's blew a draft pick on him based on his college career and the guy was not worth the selection... hence, there is something about the pressure in the NFL where you cannot predict what a rookie might do and why I would rather go with a vet

This is a good point about Wile - who is a deep punter AND can do kick-offs if we go with a more accurate kicker with a weaker leg than CatMan.

Why? We would be much better with a consistent kicker.
Because there are a lot of good kickers available in FA right now. Zane will cost a Day 2 pick. We can pick a solid CB, Guard, ILB, WR, etc. where we'd pick Zane, which are a more pressing need.
