Easily my most anticipated movie of the year.

Scorcese, Leo, DeNiro and Plemmons? With a new sandbox Scorcese has never played in (relatively speaking). Couldn’t be more in.

I sort of want to watch this but the 3 and a half hour runtime gives pause. The Irishman was similar length and was a slog to get through for me. I love Scocese and it hurts to say. I just wish runtimes would get reined in with tighter editing. It's been a problem with a lot of the new movies IMO.

Can’t remember if The Irishman did or not, but I do think seeing it in a theater as part of a captive audience with no distractions allowed me to really enjoy and absorb the epic Scorcese put on screen.

Just saw Killers of the Flower Moon at IMAX. Very good movie, but too long and, as normal, not as good as the book. This is my third movie at IMAX in a year or so: Dune, Oppenheimer, and this one. Killer is my least favorite, but still a good movie. Next IMAX is Napolean.

FYI, it'll be coming to AppleTV+ in 45 days or so. Apple Studio was the producer and financier of it. They're doing They're doing similar releases for Napoleon and Argylle too.

To recap those it is:

#1. The protagonist is incredibly flawed to the point where you dislike him.

#2. Most will die, including and most importantly, the only spoke of morality in the film. There can only be one or two tops decent people in his movies and they must suffer for their decisions.

#3. Romance is painful and fleeting.

I haven't even seen the Departed because I know I'll feel like taking a shower after watching it. All grim is tough to stomach.

They really need to. They used to do it. I remember Branagh's Hamlet having one in the 90s with it's 4 hour run time. When I got to see Lawrence of Arabia in a theater it had one too but that was a reshowing in the 90s. I wasn't around for it's original run.

My son is married to a Native American from the Creek tribe and recently moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her parents. They watched the movie with her cousins, one of which was an extra in it. My son said it was really good, FWIW.

I’ll check it out eventually. The runtime is daunting, though.

Yep, and so did Oliver, the Sound of Music, Ben Hur, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Spartacus, Hello Dolly, Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, and I believe 2001.
