Aneesah Morrow got high praise from LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey during a press conference on Monday.
"She'll go down in the history of my coaching as one of the greats and she was rewarded this year being recognized on All-American teams and All-Conference teams as she should've been," Mulkey said.
Morrow leads the country with 13.6 rebounds per game and 27 double-doubles. Also averaging 18.5 points per contest, the senior forward has eight games with at least 20 points and 15 rebounds as well as two 20/20 games. She earned First-Team All-SEC and All-SEC Defensive team honors and is on finalist lists for multiple national player of the year awards.
In a season for the record books, Morrow is one of two players in Division I history with over 100 career double-doubles. She is one of eight players with over 2,500 points and 1,500 rebounds in a career.
The Chicago native spent her first two seasons at DePaul, where she also averaged a double-double. In her first year with the Tigers, Morrow teamed up with former All-American Angel Reese and lead LSU to an Elite Eight finish. At six-foot-one, she competed against some of the game's tallest front courts in the SEC and prevailed every time.
"Her personality is not just loud," Mulkey said. "Her personality is a quiet, confident hard worker. [She] just fights for everything she gets."
LSU will tip off its NCAA Tournament vs. San Diego State on Saturday night.
