LSU women's basketball begins its NCAA Tournament on Saturday with a first-round game against San Diego State in the PMAC.
There will be one question on everyone's mind — What will head coach Kim Mulkey wear?
The Tigers' head coach is known for her flashy outfits, from basketball-themed garments to flashy suits. When March Madness rolls around, Mulkey tends to pull out the stops in terms of her fashion.
In her second season at the helm, Mulkey had extended time to flex her wardrobe as LSU won the first national championship in program history. Her team took down Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the finals following wins over No. 1 seed Virginia Tech and No. 9 Miami.
Two years later, the Tigers are looking to take the crown once again as a No. 3-seed. With home court advantage through the tournament's first two rounds, the LSU faithful will be eager to see what Mulkey will take the court in.
Here's a rating of Mulkey's best March Madness outfits through her three seasons leading the Tigers.
In her first NCAA Tournament game leading LSU, Mulkey stepped out in an all-black set with gold trim on her shoulders. Despite her boring outfit, the Tigers claimed an 83-77 victory in its first March Madness win under their new head coach.
These two pieces don't even go together and let's not pretend that they do. The sparkles earned Mulkey a better review on this getup than originally planned and she recovered with her wardrobe selections later on in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. LSU took a 66-42 win over Michigan in this one.
Mulkey's St. Patrick's Day-inspired sweater, although festive, doesn't fit sit right over her button down. In this game, LSU defeated Hawaii 73-50 in the opening game of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, the first of its six-game run to the national championship.
Mulkey paired a baby blue suit with a pink top in last year's 10-point first-round win over Rice. Her earrings are unique but it looks like she couldn't decide before heading to a gender reveal party.
Based on her team's luck last time in March Madness when Mulkey dressed like an angry leprechaun, she should avoid green at all costs. The Tigers saw their season come to an end in the Elite Eight in the rematch of the previous season's national championship game. Clark and the Hawkeyes got their revenge and second-straight Final Four trip with a 94-87 win over LSU.
Mulkey channelled her best fortune teller outfit with this sparkly cloak. Unfortunately, the game didn't end in her team's favor as LSU fell to Ohio State 79-64 during the second round of Mulkey's inaugural season.
Mulkey can always do a disco set justice and she can be spotted a mile away in this one. Her Tigers defeated UCLA 78-69 in the Albany region to set up a rematch form the previous season's national championship with Iowa.
With a trip to the national championship on the line, Mulkey dressed in a pink blazer adorned with floral pieces over a white top and bottoms. She coached her team to a 79-72 win over Virginia Tech inside Dallas' American Airlines Center, earning a chance to play for it all.
Pink was certainly a favorite color of Mulkey's during the national championship run, evidenced through this look complete with ruffles and feathers. LSU defeated Utah 66-63 in the Sweet Sixteen during the 2023 NCAA Tournament in this game.
After leading her team to a 54-42 win over Miami in the lite Eight, Mulkey celebrated a Final Four berth with her team. Her jacket with smashes of black, white and shades of pink is undertones yet stylish and sets the stage for her showstoppers in the final two games of the national championship season.
Mulkey needs this outfit's energy in her choices for the pending NCAA Tournament games. The understated rainbow pairs well with the sunny yellow color, shine just as bright as her team did. LSU defeated Middle Tennessee 83-56 in front of its home crowd in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
There should be no surprises here. Mulkey saved the best for last with this warm-toned zebra print sequined set. LSU claimed the national championship with a 102-85 victory over Iowa and hoisted the trophy for the first time in program history.
