Flau'Jae Johnson couldn't find offensive rhythm in LSU women's basketball's Sweet Sixteen game against NC State in the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
After a collision with a Wolfpack player in the second half, Johnson went to the bench and didn't return. Her head and eye area were being examined by the medical staff. She tried to come back in during the fourth quarter but, according to head coach Kim Mulkey, Johnson was "seeing double."
"She got hit in the eye area and they wouldn't let her go back in," Mulkey said.
Johnson came back from a shin injury to play in March Madness after sitting out of both SEC Tournament games. While she hadn't received official word from her staff, Mulkey is confident that her star guard will be available for the Elite Eight game against No. 1-seed UCLA.
"I just know I was getting ready to put her back in the game," Mulkey said. "They haven't come up to me all worried or anything like that, so I anticipate she'll be good to go."
