New York Knicks rookie Kevin McCullar Jr. registered his first triple-double on Wednesday in the G League, helping the Westchester Knicks defeat the College Park Skyhawks.
McCullar produced 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals in the 138-123 victory at Gateway Center Arena. He finished by shooting 7-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, in 37 minutes as Westchester improved to 18-12 in the regular season.
The 56th pick became the 26th player to record a triple-double in the G League. He had 14 points and nine assists alone in the first half as the Knicks built a 75-63 lead at the intermission.
McCullar debuted with Westchester on Jan. 30 after missing the start of the season due to a knee injury sustained last season at Kansas. He underwent offseason surgery and began training camp by rehabbing with the New York training staff.
The 24-year-old is averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.4 steals on 37.3% shooting from the field in 10 appearances. He has scored in double figures five times, including a season-high 21 points and seven rebounds on March 4 in a win over the Austin Spurs.
With four regular-season games left, McCullar will likely remain with Westchester. After missing most of the season, McCullar will look to maximize his development and finish his rookie campaign with positive momentum heading into the summer.
