Suns guard Brandon Knight is out for the Suns' upcoming four-game road trip due to a groin injury that sidelined him for the past two games.

Knight initially began feeling a groin issue after the Dec. 31 loss at Oklahoma City but aggravated it on a dunk in Tuesday's home loss to Indiana. He finished that game but missed Thursday's loss to San Antonio and Saturday's win against Atlanta. In between those games, Knight traveled to Los Angeles to get a second opinion on the groin strain, also known as a sports hernia.

There is more info in the article and I think it's best to keep players healthy, which means more time for the youngsters also, but I wonder if this could be linked to any moves.

It should give more minutes for Goodwin. There is basically no excuse for him not to see quality time while Knight is down. He should be getting more minutes than any of the 10 day contract d-leaguers that are brought in.

The youngsters (Booker/Goodwin) can get their minutes regardless if Knight returns or not ... Even if he comes back, there's 96 guard minutes to be spread among the 3 of them.

I hope he comes back soon, for no other reason than to build/maintain his trade value. This offseason, something's gotta' give - W/ Goodwin, Booker, Bledsoe, and Knight all worthy of PT (next season most definitely), + w/ Bogdan coming over, someone's getting shipped out (This is assuming they don't draft a guard in the lottery too). And that person most likely (or should be) Knight.

If he can really finish well for these last 30 games, it'll be easy to trade him this summer (and get value back). If he misses more time and doesn't play well upon returning, then it might be tough to trade him because it would be "selling low" and then next year we'll have a big problem trying to get all these guards minutes.

Or who knows, maybe he plays so well we keep him. Either way we want him to be returning - Booker/Goodwin can't play 48 min. a night, so it's not like Knight playing is pushing them out of the rotation.

If they trade Knight no way they get a deal as sweet as the one they gave the Bucks.

For this reason I doubt McDonough will do it.
