If he's dealt, Bryant, 29 and entering his 12th NBA season, wants to go to a team that's already a contender, and he has made it known that the Bulls and Dallas Mavericks are at the top of his wish list. Both teams are capable of putting together attractive packages, but the Bulls would seem to be in better position because their roster is younger. Chicago Sun-Times

Chicago is in a win-now mode with Ben Wallace slowing down and is said to be willing to break up its team for the kind of dynamic player they have not had since Michael Jordan. But as of now, the Bulls won't put Luol Deng in any deal, sources say. Still, they can offer Ben Gordon, Andres Nocioni, Tyrus Thomas and their No. 1 pick last June, Joakim Noah. That would allow the Bulls to put Bryant on the floor with Deng, Kirk Hinrich, Ben Wallace and Joe Smith. "That team could win the East and get to the Finals,'' said the Eastern Conference executive. New York Daily News

Kobe and dirk on the same team is a really scary thought.

there are other little parts of the story on hoopshype if you want to read more, i just put down the basics of the story

I don't think Dallas would have a deal without Dirk that's interesting enough for LA. But the Bulls could do one that's really good for both:

Gordon/Thomas/Sefolosha/Nochioni for Kobe

Wallace/Noah/Deng/Kobe/Hinrich would be a great team

i think howard appeals to the lakers because he gives them another wing to full in kobe's spot. however, harris is about the only other young player they'd be willing to part with (other than big men which LA has plenty of) and the lakers already have farmar/fisher/sasha.

For chicago, i think Gordon/thomas/noah might be more appealing to the lakers.

I think Dallas is pretty stupid if they shake up their entire team to get Kobe. They won 67 games last year and lost because they ran into a hot team that was a mismatch problem for them. Big deal. Work out the kinks and give it another go.

Edit: I guess it would have to depend on the deal, but a championship caliber team doing a 5-1 trade or something like that doesn't sound right. I don't think they'd mind seeing Terry leave, but I think they overrate Devin Harris a little bit. Kobe is better than Josh Howard, but Howard is young, makes less money and does a lot of things for them. Have there been any rumored proposed deals on the Dallas front?

This trade makes a lot of sense for both teams (LA and Chicago). Although Gordon is not another Kobe he would be a big attraction in LA. IMO, Gordon has the flair that LA fans love. This move would strengthen LA as the other pieces involved are the meat of the trade.

Chicago is really the only real player in the Kobe sweepstakes IMO. Dallas would have to give up a lot to get 1 player, and I don't know if Kobe/Dirk + garbage is really enough to get them over the top.

I would be very worried if kobe lands in chicago, and right now I get the feeling that there is a 60-70% chance..

Well, when I really think about it I guess at least boston and chicago would wallop each other before they got to the finals, so maybe it is actually for the best.
