The Seattle Kraken have signed forward Nathan Villeneuve to a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal will see the 18-year-old earn $975,000 annually, starting in the 2025-26 season.

Villeneuve spent the 2024-25 campaign with the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL, scoring 34 goals and 70 points in 57 games. His point totals grew exponentially in his third campaign, and he remained a physical force, totalling 120 penalty minutes.

The 2024 second-round pick (63rd overall) showcased his willingness to play hockey with an edge during the preseason. In his one outing during the preseason, he scored a goal and registered a fight in just 12:12 of time on ice.

“We are excited to officially welcome Nathan to the Kraken organization," said GM Ron Francis. "Nathan has a unique blend of grit and skill. We look forward to watching his development continue.”

Although he's not the biggest player on the ice, listed at 6'0, he makes up for it with his strength, already weighing in at 194 lbs. He plays a defensively responsible game but added the offence the Kraken always believed he could.

Villeneuve will likely return to the Wolves next season, as he is still required to play in the OHL due to the CHL and NHL agreement. If he does return, Villeneuve will be placed in a position where he is more responsible for the offence the team generates.

San Jose Sharks prospect Quentin Musty is expected to join the Sharks organization, leaving Villeneuve and Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton as the two star forwards.
