Do they really have enough expiring contracts to get KT? Maybe only Magics could get him via trade. I hope they waive him so that we could pick him up.
That works as long as the guy hasn't officially retired by submitting retirement papers to the NBA. The team must also still have the players rights to be able to sign & trade them. I think I read somewhere that there were only 18 guys who haven't officially retired and teams still owned their rights. The rest of them have had their rights renounced because holding a player's rights counts against a team's salary cap number. The Mavs set the precedent. Just sign a retired guy to a contract and send'em over.
unreal. he's an asset for the sonics, but b/c of money he was an albatross that COST us picks. that's just poor front office work.
These are my feelings as well.
Maybe we can obtain him by using the exception from the Kurt Thomas trade.
lol, that would be the greatest turn of events since, well . . . ever?

The only reason Sarver won't explore this is because he would look like even more of an idiot for making the trade in the first place.
This is going to go down as one of the worst trades in Suns history after the Sonics draft in 2010. Especially if KT goes to either the Spurms or the Mavs and helps knock us out of the playoffs.

As far as KT, we all knew we gave up too much to get rid of him. Kerr is a rookie GM and he's going to make some mistakes. That mistake was probably because of pressure from Sarver to reduce the luxury tax hit. What team is going to trade for KT right now and take on the remaining $4mil of his contract + a $4mil luxury tax hit? What team is willing to give up young players or has enough expiring contracts to make it worth renting KT for a few months? I don't see KT going anywhere unless he is bought out.
If KT winds up with Dallas or SA, I wonder what Kerr and Sarver will say. Will they ever admit they made a mistake, or keep making excuses? I still would like an explanation as to why they didn't wait until the trade deadline to move him. Right now there are teams that might be actually willing to give us something for his services, as opposed to the other way around. But of course the Suns would not trade him to a rival (I would hope), so that would have limited their options, and they might have gotten stuck with his salary and the LT after all. It's the fear of having to pay LT that made the Suns front office act prematurely, and now we can only hope that doesn't come back to haunt us even more.

with diop gone......I expect the mavs to add another big man or at least to attempt to. all of these trades have really been sudden and I won't be shocked to see another one. I don't think think the mavs are dealing terry......for one he just signed a contract before last season and they need his outside shot. I don't know that they can aquire thomas actually unless they depart with a guy like bass. unless seattle wants to give him away for another retired player or something. or the mavs could just role with what they have. I just think they need another big player to backup dampier when he is in foul trouble. which does happen against teams like phoenix and SA.I wonder whether we placed any condition on the picks included to ship KT, like Sonics don't get the 2010 pick if they KT ended up with one of the predetermined teams for playoffs, say SA, DA, LA, BO.
