To date, the only QB to lead two different teams to the Super Bowl is Craig Morton, who went with the Cowboys to Super Bowl V, and the Broncos to Super Bowl XII.

Morton, famously, was the Cowboys starter in '69 and '70, taking Dallas to the Super Bowl following the '70 season, then lost his starting job to Roger Staubach the next year, when the Cowboys won the Super Bowl for the first time. He got his starting job back in 1972 when Staubach separated his shoulder, but was replaced in the playoffs and never started again for the Cowboys. After moving to the Giants for a couple of years, he led the Broncos to the Super Bowl in his first season with them in 1977, getting to go up against his old rival Staubach, but threw 4 INTs to deliver the Cowboys second Super Bowl win. He remained the Broncos starter through 1981, being replaced by Steve DeBerg in 1982, just before the arrival of John Elway.

If the Cards win this weekend, Warner will join Morton in an extremely exclusive club.

There's been wwwaaaaayyyy too much talk about both "bowls" and things that can be categorized in the "super" department.

I know you threw an "if" in there...

but with a game this Sunday, let's see what happens then.

We know the Cards haven't handled success well to this point and I'd hate to see too many jinxs and dreams get them unfocused.

Somehow, I don't think my pointing this out is going to have the slightest effect on the preparation of the Cardinals for this game, or on their performance on the field.

They handled success pretty well on Saturday. :)

Funny. Anyone notice Warner yelling at Hightower in the third or fourth quarter for going the wrong way?

It was awesome. Game was pretty much over, but Warner was still locked in.

Is it not totally amazing here we are only one win away from the Superbowl and discussing it on the board. Who would have ever figured this? During the year we had dissed just about every player on our team (except Fitz) at one time or another and yet look at us now. An absolutely amazing turn of events. We wanted to fire our defensive coordinator and now some teams are looking at him for an upgrade. We did not like our offensive coordinator at one time. We have never liked our GM. Probably still do not but once again here we are. This is an Alice in Wonderland event. We are even a 3 point favorite against the Eagles to go to the super-bowl. Is the world going to turn out to be flat? I got to be dreaming all this. Could we end up playing Pittsburg in the big one against Whiz's former employer? How fitting this would be.

Philly is the last team on the list that scares me. Not that Pittsburgh and Baltimore are chopped liver but the Cardinals are a completely different matchup for them and in fact, Arizona beat both of them last year. Philly is a different story and they were the one's out of the East that scared me the most with their defense and McNabb finding enough of his legs to make it very difficult to sack him. I'm not as afraid of his arm but if he get's all day long to throw, he may be the big problem on Sunday.

In the real world you're right.

I haven't lived in the real one in forever though and I believe in the jinx.

Just for the records, the Ravens beat the Cardinals last year, 26-23. But it could've gone the other way if not for that bogus personal foul penalty on Wilson....

Do the Steelers run the same offensive scheme as they did when Whiz was the coordinator?

Interesting you bring this up. I grew up in Denver and until that season the Broncos were considered a joke of a franchise among the locals much like the Cards have been (nobody in my class wanted the Bronco pencil from the NFL pencil set, yes young people, we traded pencils with team logo's back then, no they weren't mechanical). However, that run solidified so many fans in their corner it evolved into the fan base they enjoy today. Granted the Elway years did a lot to keep it going but '77 was when it all started to build. It was an amazing thing to see as a 5th grader, the city just exploded in orange, signs everywhere, bumper stickers, jerseys, office buildings with huge "Orange Crush" signs, going from store to store with my mom to find more Orange Crush soda to buy for the big game, it was unreal.

Our school had "Bronco Day" the Friday before the Super Bowl and EVERYONE wore Bronco gear, except one girl from Dallas and she was immediately shunned until a couple days after the game (we forgave her because she was the only 5th grader with boobies that were...amazing).

My point is this is where the big time starts, this is what we have needed for a long time to put the transients on our side and let go of the old home town. Denver in the 70's was much like Phoenix today, nobody was from there. And the best part? Denver didn't have Lienert on the bench when Morton was done. We do.

Warner is 2-4 lifetime against the Eagles, with 7 TDs but 9 INTs and a passer rating of 68. Since the 2001 NFCCG, he is 0-3 against the Eagles, with 3 TDs 5 INTs and a passer rating of 60.

Most if not all those losses were in Philly I think. What happened in that 2001 NFCCG?

Moklerman has this in one of his threads. All the losses were at Philly and he is 1-0 @home. He is also 2-0 in NFC Championship games I believe.

Quite right. He is 1-4 in Philadelphia. In the NFCCG, he was brilliant, going 22/33 308 yards and a TD, with a passer rating of 95. Of course, Troy Vincent was playing on one good leg in that game, so I don't know how much that was a factor.

GSOTurf that game right? I have heard many say that McNabb is the hot QB going into this game.

I am thinking Warner has played as well if not better than McNabb the past two games.

It is gonna be fun (and stressful) to see which QB plays better on Sunday.

those many sure haven't been watching the last two weeks then.

total stats: 517 yards, 3 TDs:4 turnovers, passer rating of 74. looks pretty damn mediocre to me.

the defense and a sick play by Westbrook late in the Vikes game is what's carrying Philly, not Donovan's ******** who decides not only to go out of bounds stopping the clock with 3 minutes left, but picks up a 15 yard penalty in the process.

he'll choke on his own vomit like he does every time he plays a big game and we will be victorious come Sunday.

Did he have Fitz, Boldin, Breaston, Edge, Hightower, Gandy, Lutui, Brown, Wells, Wilson, Dockett, Berry, Rolle, Dansby, DRC, Smith, along with the coaching of Whiz, Grimm and Tod Haley during those years??
