The center position has been a consistent conundrum for the Warriors this season. With six options at the 5, plus Draymond Green, Warriors coach Steve Kerr has mixed-and-matched centers in lineups all year, and outside of David West’s minutes as a second-unit ace, no one’s role has been set in stone. For the most part, things have worked — the Warriors centers have a diverse set of skills, and that lends itself well to the regular season — but figuring out when and against whom to play those big man options has been a delicate balancing act for Kerr and his assistants. It’s a balancing act that could prove to be even more difficult ahead of Game 3 of the Warriors’ first-round series against the Spurs on Thursday, as JaVale McGee was a surprise inclusion on the Warriors’ injury report with a quad injury and did not practice in San Antonio on Wednesday.
