another cards snippet from Prisco:
• The Cardinals have a star inside linebacker in Daryl Washington. He had 12 tackles against Patriots. Arizona has the makings of a special defense. And he's one of the bright, young stars.

All good stuff!

:number1:

A talented linebacker with Dockett, Williams, Carter, and Campbell in front of him instead of Bernard Wilson or Jerry Drake or Barron Tanner or Brad Ottis or Rashod Swinger ..... Must be a dream come true.

This was by no means an outing of quarterbacking mastery -- Kolb was 15 of 27 for 140 yards and a touchdown -- but it was gutsy and tough. Those are things people like to knock Kolb for -- and included him running for another score and, most importantly of all, not turning the ball over

not turning the ball over?

I thought Kolb fumbled once?

Duck - Ironically, the Cards were said to have run a lot of 2 DL fronts with 4 LB's and 5 DB's, so DWash didn't get the protection from a front 3 that LB's usually get. (Then again, he did have CC in front of him with 10 tackles, no?)

You have to remember that Sam Acho played extensively at DE at Texas. So when the Cards go to the 2-4-5 Sam is essentially a DE and Dockett and Campbell become DTackles. At 6'2" 262 Acho is almost as big as many 4-3 DE's.

And you did hit an important point. Dockett and Campbell are equal to 4 Jerry Drakes or Rashad Swingers.

Getting the most sacks in the NFL over that 11 game stretch is good stuff. Now if we could quit taking the most sacks on offense...:D

Jason LaCanfora is definitely one beat-writer who takes time to actually see what is driving a team that is having success. He displays a knowledge of his subject that few writers or talking heads can match these days. Good find Shane.

wow...that's murderer's row right there....

I remember the joy of when I first got DirecTV Sunday Ticket, opening day 2002 Cards at Redskins, Bernard Wilson catches a tipped pass for an INT looks like he has room to take it to the house.....and I'm screaming "run Bernard Run",....and then I realized he was already running as fast as he could go.....

D-Wash is special, but yeah it sure doesn't hurt that we have a D-Line that competes every damn snap! They are going to give Mike Vick some trouble....must contain McCoy as he is the best back in the League...

Great article.

I had no idea they had the most sacks in the NFL over the last 11 games. That is pretty amazing considering we all complain about the lack of a pass rushing OLB.

I saw on ESPN that D-Wash is 2nd in the NFL in tackles so far and Lenon is like 17th.

This defense is Sikk!

I think if the Cards really did somehow go 7-0 going into the MNF games against San Fran here, that would basically be a superbowl for me. The coolaid would be flowing out of every hole in my body
