Honestly i see this as a great signing. He's relatively cheap seeing as how the free agents have been going this offseason, not to mention he had 6.5 sacks last year in a reserve role. Granted whether he can play standing up remains to be seen, but i'm fairly optimistic about him. As some one else said this earlier, this reminds me of the Rod Hood sighing last year, not a very big splash, but a solid contributor and starter.

We'll be how this guy pans out. Albert Haynesworth is a beast though. When AH was out all the other guys' stats dropped significantly. Let's hope that trend doesn't continue.

I'm not exactly excited about it, but it does make me feel a lot better about losing Pace. Laboy, Berry, Okeafor and a draft pick. I can live with that, I guess.

so was Bill Romanowski and i would take him is his heyday.i'll give Graves credit. It was a low-risk,high-reward type signing. Those are what he's best at.

I guess we'll just have to disagree.

I don't like players with a history of concusssion. They always linger. And aside from B-Train, and maybe Gandy, I don't think his record is one to write home about. That's just me.

Good for depth. And helps our pass rush which is always a good thing.

Blech. Free Agency is ridiculously expensive. I wonder how much Odom was looking for.

We will see with this kid. The upside is there but it seems he might be injury prone.

Is he fast for 260lbs ?

Welcome to ASFN.

Great signing? Unlikely. He's been signed for depth at a position of need.
Good signing? Probably. He's still young, has decent stats and didn't cost too much.

I'll reserve judgment for now. If he works out as well as most of last year's free agents did, we'll all be pleased. If he is this year's Terrence Holt, we'll all hate it.

Also, as of right now, no confirming press release in my mail box yet.

I am sorry, but getting excited about a mediocre (at best) DE/LB Hybrid shows how far we have sunk. His stats are not very good and this is playing next to one of the best DT's in the league.

Wait and see but I dont expect much.

"In 13 games in 2007, LaBoy had six sacks, four forced fumbles, three pass deflections and an interception."

Those stats look pretty good to me.

I like this signing. This new position could take him to the next level, and if not he will just be a solid rotation guy. I'm happy with the contract too, very reasonable in this inflated market.

I think Odom got 29 mil with 11 guaranteed.

Maybe he'll be our KVB in reverse. Remember he was hurt most of his, what, 3 years here then goes to the Titans and kicks butt. Maybe LaBoy's injuries are behind him now and can give us what KVB gave them......

Pace benefited from his new position this past year.....

Now we need to turn our attention to depth on the o-line, WR (#3 guy), and the secondary.

From Somers

An agreement in principle

Well, things can change quickly in free agency. I was told a couple of hours ago that Travis LaBoy wouldn't sign tonight, which was correct.

It doesn't mean, however, he couldn't agree to terms. And that's what he did. The deal I'm told is for five years, $22 million with $7.5 million guaranteed, likely in the form of a signing bonus.

It should be official tomorrow.

That's good enough for me. I was hoping they'd sign him and today they filled two holes, one for half of what it would have cost us to keep pace. This guy has been more consistent than Pace so I like the upgrade. Less games, less tackles but more sacks and all for about half the price.

He'll play a role here and was cheap. Good enough for me.

We replaced Calvin's pass rushing, now plug in an athletic LB with range and we're good to go without dropping $25 million.

Looks like we signed a similar player to Pace for half the money. It looks good on paper so far but, let's see how well he plays for us this year before we get too excited. I read his draft bio and it says he is a high motor player with good pass-rushing skills. The only real negative I found about him said he has a real attitude and that some players aren't going to get along with him. That part sounds like Simeon Rice.

Still, this does seem like a good signing and because of it, it lessens our need for drafting a passrusher in the first round. I think we draft a cornerback now with our first round pick. Cromartie would be my first guess. He was very impressive at the combine.

I am not ecstatic, but this is a good signing IMO. He had good numbers as a DE. His tackles should go up as an OLB, I just hope he can stay healthy.

Cardinals ink DE LaBoy to 5-year deal

Cardinals ink DE LaBoy to 5-year deal

TEMPE, ARIZONA (TICKER) —The Arizona Cardinals added a proven pass rusher Tuesday, signing defensive end Travis LaBoy to a five-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the NFL Network reported that LaBoy received a $22 million deal which includes $7.5 million in guaranteed money.

LaBoy, 26, has spent his entire four-year career with the Tennessee Titans, recording 105 tackles and 19 1/2 sacks in 54 games - 20 starts.

A Honolulu native, LaBoy will fill the void created Monday by pass-rushing specialist Calvin Pace, who signed a $42 million deal with the New York Jets.

The 6-3 LaBoy played exclusively as a reserve with the Titans last season, recording 13 tackles and six sacks
