Plot: Ladder 49 is about a rookie firefighter who awaits rescue from a burning building. There, he reflects on his career, wife and family.

Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, John Travolta, Jacinda Barrett, Billy Burke, Kevin Chapman, Morris Chestnut, Scott Cooper, Kevin Daniels, Balthazar Getty, Tim Guinee, Brooke Hamlin, Jay Hernandez, Robert Patrick.

Anyone out there psyched to see this one? It hasn't earned the greatest reviews but it looks decent. Many of the actors literally became firemen for a month in order to gain the experience to properly depict firemen at work.

With a glance at the cast, I'm sure many ladies will line up to see it. :D

:lmao:

Too funny. Maybe it's the end of his rookie year as a firefighter and he's seen a lot of bad fires in that one year.

I saw this movie this past weekend and it think it was a good movie. not a typical hollywood movie. Joaquin Phoenix and John Travolta were wonderful and Jacinda Barrett was phenominal!!! Overall good film, enjoyable with some cool fire scenes. Everyone was crying when i walked out from the movie. I thought it was really sad. I give it 8/10

I just watched it. I thought it was a solid movie. I thought they did a good job of demonstrating the camaraderie that firefighters have. The gags they pulled on each other were really funny. Good acting, especially by Phoenix.

As a fire fighter (now 9 days retired.... WOO-HOO!!) I found this movie to be the closest to the real thing of any such movie, far and away. There's some things they simply can't do in a movie, like search and rescue in a smoke filled building.... you can't see your hand in front of your face, so how do you show that in a movie? Anyway, understanding the liberties they have to take on stuff like that, it's a solid, pretty realistic movie. And BTW, for those of you who haven't seen it, he's no longer a rookie when he's reflecting on his life.

And as a voice from the other side, believe me, retirement doesn't suck.....
