Despite what Donald and abomb claim as concern for our franchise is what's mobilizing them to comment against Shaq and the trade, I can only surmise that their fellow Lakers fans' reactions doesn't sound like 'concern'.

'Fear' is more like it. We have less to lose than they do.

If Shaq turns out to be a bad trade, then everyone can laugh at Kerr, but we move on. If Shaq helps the Suns get out of the Western Conference, then the Lakers organization looks even MORE like jackasses for trading Shaq over Kobe, and all the years of defending Kobe that his nuthuggers have done is worthless.

I just got back from dinner and a movie, and was amazed at the number of pointless Laker troll posts. I hope this doesn't go on for the entire year, otherwise Chris you are going to have to hire like 15 more mods to keep this board under constant surveillance. Keep up the good work Chris, hopefully this is just a short term troll attack.

It wasn't me who banned them. It was fellow Laker fan Brian in Mesa. Kudos to BIM for being that cool.

I just cleaned up the posts. Someone else was doing it as well. Not sure who.

Just to clarify, what is it that makes them trolls? I missed what happened earlier.

The Lakers are my favorite team, but I sometimes post in this thread to talk basketball cause most people here seem to know their stuff. Should Laker fans just not post in here? If so, I'm cool with that, just curious. I have nothing against the Suns, and I like Shaq, just don't call myself a "suns fan."

What is acceptable in this forum?

Homey wasn't talking basketball. He was flooding the forum with unfunny, repetitive, vulgar posts.

Gotcha.

Personally, even though I'm a fan of another team, I hate trolls. I'm not gonna come on here and bash the Suns, that's just ********. I hope you guys don't take that as a typical sample of Laker Fans.

i don't mind people who like other teams coming in here. in fact, i prefer it if they people are decent (like Greg for example). i like to hear the opposite side, in fact. just don't say stupid close-minded things and you'll be fine. people just tend to be more critical when their team is the one being questioned.

To answer the OP I don't think any of the Laker fans are afraid of this move. Confused, dumbfounded, shocked........yes.

You didn't read what the trolls were posting. Like I said, I only fear can bring out such childishness and idiocy. Meaning: These particular Lakers fans were mad at the Suns' move, and are aiming to take it out on the Suns fans' boards. Now, would they have any reason to be mad, if they weren't afraid ofthe consequences of the move?

They were mad at the fans here comparing Shaq to Kareem at this point in their careers. That is a downright travesty to anyone who knows the game, and considering Kareem retired as a Laker it's like spitting in his face for us.

I'm not so sure. I would say right now, I'm concerned about the move the Suns made. I know the move is a gamble, but if it pays off for the Suns it's going to be very tough for the rest of the league. We just have to see how it goes, but it could end up being great for the Suns.

I would guess their motivation is less fear for what you are doing and more contempt for Shaq.

He's not a popular guy in LA, despite three titles...mostly because he was a lazy, unmotivated bum who demanded more money then when he got traded he came into camp in fantastic shape in Miami his first year. Going to the Suns, which is a thisclose rivalry brewing is yet another Shaq slap in the face to the Laker franchise.

More will be coming.. if your a Shaq fan , you know about this already but if your not..well..you better get used to it and fast.

Miami got flooded the past 4 years ..by Laker ,Orlando, Bull and Detroit fans.

When you are winning someone is losing..and will be hating.

Kareems last two years were 14.6ppg(28mins in '88), and 10.1 ppg(89)

So the last championship Kareem won with the lakers was '88 where he averaged 14.6ppg, on 53% FG's, and 6 rpg, 1.15 blocks in 28.9 minutes.

Kareem didnt equal shaqs current 7.8 rpg average over his last 7 years as a player, while averaging 32 mins/game(4 more mins a game).

shaq this year is 14ppg, 58% FG's, 7.8rpg, 1.7 blocks in 28 minutes.

They are/were different players, but statistically similar at the end of their careers. Sure Kareem lasted till 41 and shaq probably will never do that. Still the lakers won with kareem playing major minutes(28.9) at 38 years old. Shaqs stats look similar at 36 years old. They were/are both role players with better offense than defense, but shaq also can physically control space better than Kareem ever could, something more valuable to the suns.

I seriously doubt Kareem would be insulted in being compared with shaq, and almost no fan outside LA would think that it was a slap on kareem. All great centers will be compared with Kareem, and shaquille O Neal will be regarded as a great center, even moreso after he leads the suns to the title this year!

It really boils down to this, does Kerr know what he is doing? If he does, the opposition should be afraid, very afraid. If Kerr doesn't, there will be much weeping and knashing of teeth in Phoenix. One thing I do trust is the Suns medical staff. See McDyess, Hill, Nash and Amare.
