Boston, MA --The Boston Celtics announced today that the August 6th trade with the Los Angeles Lakers, in which the Celtics received Gary Payton, Rick Fox and a conditional first round draft pick in exchange for Chucky Atkins, Chris Mihm, Marcus Banks and a second round draft choice, has been amended. In the amended deal, the Celtics have sent 6’8” forward Jumaine Jones instead of Banks to the Lakers, and no longer includes the Celtics second round draft choice.

Boston still receives Payton, Fox, the conditional first round draft pick and cash considerations.

So, the Celtics keep Banks, and also get the Lakers' first-round pick. It looks to me like Danny Ainge cleaned up.

Hey, at least the Lakers picked up another SF in the deal! :p

So the Lakers traded their starting PG and don't seem to have a replacement for him on their roster?

Nice

Wow...

The Lakers PG is Kobe. He gets to have the ball all he wants.

Kobe and Odom will take care of most of the perimeter ballhandling. Add in Vlade and they'll be fine in that aspect. I thought they were going after Banks because of his D, because it seemed like the Lakers gave up around 40 pts. per game to opposing PGs.

There's gotta be another deal in place for the Lakers if they acquired another SF.

Maybe NJ could unload Kidd to LA? Of course a third team would probably have to be involved. ;)

I was looking at the InsideHoops site and it seems like every Laker's fan is totally up in arms. Personally, I wasn't that impressed with Banks, but what do I know.

The most popular theory is that Rick Fox will refuse to report to the Celtics, which meant the Celtics could void the entire deal.

Wow, talk about controversy!
Can they really void the deal if something like that happens?

Do the Celtics really want Fox? It appears to me that they desire his expiring contract.
