Lampe's defense against the Seattle sonics was good. He was also very active on the boards. Even when he couldn't grab the rebounds he was tipping them to other players. On offense he still struggles to hit a shot consistently even though it looks great. However when he takes really open shots he seems to hit them every time. This is good because playing alongside Amare Stoudemire and some of the other Phoenix Suns players I think he's going to get a lot of open shots.

I still believe that the Phoenix Suns desperately need some shot blocking, but I have been encouraged by Lampe's last couple appearances. If the Suns had a roster spot opened for another point guard I definitely would like that Yuta guy. He reminds me a lot of Boykins. He is a very good ball handler and passer. He can hit open shots. And he is fast and active enough to defend what would amount to other NBA backup point guards. Of course there just isn't room for him unless the Phoenix Suns make a trade.

I think we could afford to put that Yuta guy on the IR or let him replace Eisley if Eisley isn't on the IR anyway.

I saw only the first two summer-league games, but I wasn't impressed with Tabuse at all. He didn't shoot well in the games I watched and doesn't have nearly good enough court vision to make up for his tiny stature. If you're going to be in the NBA at that size, you must be a dead-accurate shooter, and extremely accurate ball-handler and passer, and a pesky defender. Tabuse appears to be none of those.

I disagree, I thought he had moments of great vision and in a game I watched he made 3 threes in the second half and looked pretty confident when left open.

I do agree he is a borderline NBA player. Like JM said, unless the Suns make a trade there is not really a spot for him on the roster. They are not going to have 4 point guards, at least I hope not. With JJ and Casey I don't even think we need 3 point guards. :?

To anyone who watched the game, where did lamps get most of his points? Were they coming off jumpers or were they inside moves?

Plus barbs is playing superb. I know it's just summer league, but the guy must be all over the place defensvely judging by his steals. Plus as of lately, is it just me or have his assists been climbing a little also. I think he is the perfect guy to lead the second unit.

This is outstanding, but remember he is playing against 3rd or 4th string players at best. 90% wont make the league, but good play otherwise...Let's hope he can play better this upcoming year than he did last year.

yea but amares year at the RMR he didnt even do that and he came out and averaged 13.5 and 8.8 rebounds. not i am not saying that lampe is anywhere close to amare. but the summer play is there for only a couple reasons. get players used to nba play and rules, the style of play of the team, work on their skills and most importantly build their confidence.

this summer they are working on lampe getting closer to the basket then what he was used to in europe. he is playing better defense and being somehting other then a spot up shooter who is 7' tall.

I'm sure Iveroni has been reading our posts and has been working on getting these guys to play better.

Iveroni has been pushing Lampe to become more agressive going to the basket and rebounding. It sounds like Lampe is beginning to do what he's told rather than keep reverting to his old Euro SF style.

I'm sure the increased number of assists by Barbosa is also due to pressure by the coaches to get him to focus more on spotting open guys. Getting him to pass the ball effectively on the break with a guy with his speed would be huge. Now, if he can just learn how to stop making stupid fouls.

I found it hysterical that they supposedly started Blizzard at 6'3" at center and listed Lampe at guard. We know Lampe likes to drift outside, but ... :p

Both the Suns and Spurs suffered from poor shooting from the field; shooting 35 percent and 33 percent respectively. The Spurs used the Suns overly aggressive defense to their advantage; getting to the foul line 12 times in the quarter. The Spurs’ Corsley Edwards came off the bench to lead his team in scoring with eight points. The Suns’ Yuta Tabuse, who is quickly becoming a crowd favorite, replaced a foul-plagued Leandro Barbosa and score five points in two minutes of play, but still the Suns trailed at the quarter by four.

The Suns came out on fire in the second quarter, shooting 66 percent from the field, including three three-pointers, two by Leandro Barbosa. Without being able to get to the foul line the way they did in the in first quarter, the Spurs surrendered their lead midway through the quarter with Casey Jacobsen torching the Spurs for eight in the quarter on four-for-five shooting, and dishing out two assists. Utah-native Jackson Vroman chipped in five points, including a three-pointer right before the end of the half, taking an 11 point lead to the locker room.

The Suns increased their lead to 19 points midway through the quarter behind the strong play of Maciej Lampe and his eight points and three rebounds. Brazilian Leandro Barbosa added eight points for the Suns. The Spurs got hot, shooting 61 percent, but couldn’t gain any ground on the Phoenix lead, despite outscoring the Suns in the paint 16-to-8. Devin Brown scored six points in the quarter.

The Spurs got aggressive offensively, attacking the basket early and often, drawing fouls and getting to the line and cutting the Phoenix lead to five with 6:02 to play in the game. But the Suns refused to surrender the lead, pushing the ball up court and scoring easy points in transition on their way to a 90-83 victory. Four of Phoenix’s five starters scored in double digits with Maciej Lampe netting a double-double. Devin Brown led all Spurs with 17 points.
