Land of the Dead Trailer Rises Online
Source: Universal Pictures
April 27, 2005

The trailer for George A. Romero's Land of the Dead has been released at Yahoo! Movies. The film is the acclaimed director's long-awaited return to the horror genre he invented, beginning with the seminal Night of the Living Dead and continuing with Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead.

Land of the Dead trailer

In this new tale, Romero creates a harrowing vision of a modern-day world where the walking dead roam an uninhabited wasteland and the living try to lead "normal" lives behind the walls of a fortified city. A new society has been built by a handful of enterprising, ruthless opportunists, who live in the towers of a skyscraper, high above the hard-scrabble existence on the streets below. But outside the city walls, an army of the dead is evolving. Inside, anarchy is on the rise. With the very survival of the city at stake, a group of hardened mercenaries is called into action to protect the living from an army of the dead.

Universal Pictures will release the horror film, starring Simon Baker, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper, Asia Argento and Robert Joy, on June 24. The official site can now also be found at LandoftheDeadmovie.net.

I saw it and I liked it. I'm a huge fan of Romero, so my judgement is a little biased. There's a lot of social commentary, and Dennis Hopper is just fantastic. It could have been scarier, and I think I expected a little more just because Romero hasn't made a film in almost 20 years. Still, it was worth seeing. Old school zombies, and a few cameos from Tom Savini (spelling) and one of the guys from Shaun of the Dead.

This was bad. Really bad. I mean, I was all for it, since it was a Romero zombie flick, but wow. I mean, it wasn't even Resident Evil good, where it was funny-good. It just sucked. Ouch. He's lost his touch.

I agree. This movie sucked hardcore. And I am usually a sucker for zombie type flicks even though everyone else says they suck. Heck I liked both of the Resident Evils, so that should tell you how far my bias goes when it comes to those type of movies.

As for Hopper, this was not his best acting at all. Maybe it was the writting or directing but he annoyed the heck out of me.

This was the first movie of the year that I have almost walked out on.

decent. but nothing to see more than once. The whole lead zombie thing with the gas station dude was just stupid. I'm real skeptical of zombie flicks since that piece of crap Undead.
