I have an ASUS X83V Laptop (less than a year old) running Vista64 that is stuck in low resolution 8bit and when I go to change the display options it gives me no options.

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6400 @2.00GHz 4.00GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS

The computer also will not connect to the internet either wireless or when directly connected to the router by cable.

When doing troubleshooting the response is always "Windows did not find any problems with your internet connections." All my other computers connect just fine.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve these problems other than buying a new laptop.

I know its under warranty but ASUS does an excellent job of making it extremely difficult to find out how to get warranty service.

Have you tried the standard fall back ...

Reinstall Windows ?

I typically do that at least once a year

I did a quick search on the internet and it seems your problem has popped up for a few people. The recommendation is to upgrade your BIOS.

Just curious, what do you think of the build quality of your Asus Laptop? The reason I ask is because I bought an Asus Laptop (actually typing on it right now) about 2 years ago. I got the Asus A8JS and while it runs like a champ, the build quality is absolute crap. The paint around the touch pad wore out in 6 months leaving ugly black marks which look like crap. The Lid has never closed right, and eventually the bezel around the screen cracked and it cracked along the back of the screen as well (the plastic only.) The Laptop runs great, it runs Vista 64 Ultimate with everything on as fast as most desktops but the build quality has really turned me off of Asus. As good as this laptop performs on games (Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 120GB SATA, 512MB Dedicated Geforce 7700GT) I would probably not buy another Laptop from Asus.

NVIDIA also usually has it's own interface on your laptop. Have you tried adjusting the graphics settings through the NVIDIA UI?

I agree 100%. Its like somebody took a Ferrari engine and put it in a base mode Ford Focus. The ASUS hardware is absolute crap and I will never buy another one.

Especially irritating is the "click". Its like those old metal toy "crickets". Unreal how cheap the hardware is on those computers.
