Pro Football Talk reports today that Fitzgerald plans on turning pro by Wednesday. He hasn't even made preparations to start classes for the spring semester at Pitt. It is to the benefit of the Cards if Fitzgerald enters the draft, because the Raiders will likely look to draft him at number 2 which would allow the Cards to nab Roethlisberger at number 3. Also, if both qb's are gone 1 and 2 picking Fitzgerald at number 3 wouldn't be so bad. A wideout combination of Boldin, Johnson, and Fitzgerald would be very good.

He won't say it now since he's suddenly the official spokesperson for the Raiders, but Artie Gigantino said right after the season ends that from what he knows Al Davis COVETS Fitzgerald. So you may be right he may in fact be the guy they take.

This is good news... Either Big Ben or Fitzgerald would be a great pick for us.

Same here. I see Fitgerald as much the same type of reciever as Bryant Johnson, only better. Much better. And I see Williams as the equal to Moss.

I hope Fitzgerald does come out and the Raiders take him. That opens things up for the Cards. Try to understand that FitZ is Boldin. Same guy. No downfield speed. Cards need speed. They have none. If you don't believe it watch the Colts with Marvin Harrison.

Big Ben, is he another Ryan Leaf?

I dont think he is worthy of a top 5 pick.

I think the Raiders big need is here. There is no way they can bring back Rice and Brown. They will have a healthy Jerry Porter , who has downfield speed, next year. So Fitzgerald is a real good fit for them. Do it Raiders. Do it for the Cards.

What do you base that on? Leaf was a head case. That is not the case for Ben.

Sorry, buff.

No, there's no indication that he'll be another Ryan Leaf. Lot's of experts have him rated higher than Manning. They both seem to have pretty good heads on their shoulders. So, to use an overused phrase, "they're 1a and 1b."

Actually the "Ryan Leaf" question is a legit one if you look at it solely from the perspective of trading away the store in order to move up and grab one particular player.

The problem of putting all your eggs in a single basket is that the dude in the single basket could -

a. Get injured.

b. Turn out to be a head case.

c. Have his confidence shattered somewhere along the way.

d. Eat his way out of the league

e. Snort his way out of the league, beat his Significant O or slip into DWI Hell.

Then the team who traded up to get him winds up with nothing.

But if you're making the Leaf comparison solely on the basis of whether Manning or Roethlisberger are "legends in their own minds", there's no indication of this that I've heard of.
