Per rotoworld:

Jermaine O'Neal has recently been linked in trade rumors involving Suns big man Amare Stoudemire.

A likely scenario would be O'Neal and a first round pick for Stoudemire. Teammate Michael Beasley has also been mentioned, though shopping O'Neal would seem to fit better with long term plans.

Yeah we will take Jermaine O'Neal who makes 23M$ expiring for Amare's 16M$ expiring and only get a first round pick out of it.

Delusional, we throw in Barbosa as a filler in this trade too.

O'Neal could be a major cog involved in a potential deal if the Heat is serious about acquiring Amare Stoudemire from Phoenix.

The Heat has been mentioned among a half-dozen teams that might pursue a trade for Stoudemire if the Suns make him available. Stoudemire has a $17 million contract option for the 2010-11 season, but could opt out after this season to join free-agent class highlighted by Cleveland's LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Sounds like pure speculation and makes no sense for the Suns unless they desperately wanted to dump Barbosa who I think is valueable enough to be traded for an expiring contract all by himself.

Or the Heat take Richardson for more expiring contracts.

Also I would have to think that a JO/Amare frontcourt would be better for their title aspirations this year than Amare/Haslem or Beasley.

I disagree. I think this trade makes complete sense if you look at it from how the Suns F.O. operates. All of these rumors point to the Suns wanting to shed payroll and get younger. You make this trade, get a first round draft pick and deal Nash next.

Here is the reality. We are not going to get equal value for Amare. Nobody is going to trade away the farm to get him. Teams were convinced last season Amare was going to be traded. We had a ton of offers and all of them were crap.

What is different this year? This will be a take what you can get scenario.

I'd want Beasley. I don't even like him, but we need something more than a mid-late 1st rounder...

Um, yeah. I'm gonna have to get BOTH MIA picks this year for this to be palatable. I mean, if we parlayed Amare into the 18th and 19th picks and capspace, you really can't be too mad....

But, what about that $7 million discrepancy? If we gave them Barbosa, we still wouldn't be able to take anything back because that would make the deal even dollar....

18th and 19th picks in the first round is stupid. Waste of money.

The trade would have to include JRich to make it work! I would be willing to move Amare & Jrich for O'Neals Expiring contract, but it would also need to include Beasley and either Chalmers or Wright!

Sweet D speaks a sweet truth. I would be all over a Stoudemire/JRich for Beasley/O'Neal/Chalmers/#1 deal. Hell, I might even be fine WITHOUT the #1....

If the Suns traded Amare and Richardson for O'Neal and Cook, they would have a ton of cap space this summer, and could make a run at guys like Bosh, Gay and the like. It would also save the team over 10 million dollars in salary and luxury tax this season alone.

I think we can more for Amare and J-Rich than that. J-Oneal, Cook,Chalmers and a pick.

The ghost of Christmas past! Welcome back.

I agree, taking on a bad contract seems really stupid if we can get cap space and some good young talent/picks. We'll see if the Suns name is attractive enough to draw a Bosh or other top FA.
