Typically for an anti-virus I have found that the AVG free edition works very well... I have 6 computers that I use on a regular basis (at least once per week) through my personal life and my job all but one are using AVG... Three of these I own the latest being a laptop I purchased from Dell. The Dell one came with the McAffee software bundled package, firewall, anti virus, spamblocker, popup blocker... I have had the laptop for about 6 months and this morning my subscription expired... Overall I was not overly disappointed with the product so I went to renew the subscription. The minimum I could renew for was 89.95 and if I updated the entire bundle the grand total was nearly 200 bucks...

Needless to say I opened add/remove and uninstalled all McAffee products.

Having swapped Norton for AVG on all of my other machines I new that there were always very large performace enchancments in removing Norton... Well I can tell you that the realized speed and performance of this laptop now after McAfee removal and AVG installation is absolutely night and day... My boot is almost instant in comparison to McAfee and my multitasking is not even comparable....

Email checks and completes much more smoothly and at blinding speeds...

again I knew Norton turned a machine into a slug typically using up to 30% of the free resources but McAffee must have even used more...

DOH!!

Guess I should put that in here...

I just go to download.com and search AVG free... If you go to Grisoft it takes a lot of searhing to find the free version...

The Norton program is a hog....I'm very happy with the AV freebie. Difference in boot up times is like night and day!

I love the AVG free edition.

The paid edition is nice too. Two computers for two years $59.
$15 per computer/per year.

Compare to Norton at 89.95 (retail) and renewals at $30/year.
