IDABEL — The Latta Panthers wrapped up play at the Southeast Shootout with an 11-3 win over Bridge Creek Thursday afternoon at Idabel High School.

The Panthers, who won three out of four games at the shootout, improved to 7-2. Bridge Creek dropped to 5-5.

Latta, ranked No. 4 in Class 2A-1, is scheduled to host Moss Monday and travel to Stuart Tuesday.

Latta scored seven times in the top of the first inning to take control early.

Landon Fortner got the Panthers started. He cracked a one-out double and courtesy runner Carter Freeze scored on a run-scoring, infield single by Darien Miller.

The Panthers also took advantage of three walks and a hit batter during the volley. Fortner drove in the final run of the frame with an RBI hit of his own that put his team ahead 7-0.

Latta plated three runs in the top of the third to boost its advantage to 10-1.

The Panthers collected nine hits in the contest and four players had two hits each.

Fortner finished 2-for-3 with a walk, Miller went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Reese Littlefield finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored and Kaiden Goolsby ended up 2-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.

Freeze went 1-for-1 with an RBI and two runs scored for Latta.

Gestin Pollard was the winning pitcher for the Panthers. He struck out six, walked two and allowed just one earned run in three innings. Goolsby tossed the final two innings and had two strikeouts and no walks.

Ryan Johnson had two of five Bridge Creek hits and scored a pair of runs. Ben McBride went 1-for-3 and knocked in two runs.

Three Bobcat hurlers combined for eight strikeouts and eight walks.
