I hate the phrase

Its always said with a giddyness of I told you so, putting the I hate to say in the front is a contradiction and a lie

but yeah, lets not count chickens, they need to hatch first.

Them chickens won't be hatching anytime soon. LeBeau isn't coming to Arizona.

so what if butler threatens to come to AZ, Pitt doesnt want to lose him since he is the long term fix and decided not to sign lebeau? Your answer is he will be a consultant, what if he wants to coach? People change minds, coaches lie, no matter what your sources say they can be wrong. Jerecki is a high up cardinal source and he is wrong at times.

To the question, Lebeau opened by saying: "I promise you... etc." and went on to say that he'd be Coaching in Pitt or not at all.

This is pretty "unequivocal" to me, and have no reason to question the man's words. If he was hedging, he most certainly could have a found a "weasel" word or two to leave things open.

Dick LeBeau to stay in Pittsburgh, sign new deal for 2011

Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau isn’t going anywhere.
Although there were reports during the regular season and postseason that LeBeau could retire or even leave the Steelers to coach in Arizona, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that LeBeau will soon sign a one-year contract to return as defensive coordinator for the 2011 season.
I’m not coaching anywhere but here,” LeBeau said.
The 72-year-old LeBeau has worked on a series of one-year contracts every year since 2004, and that will continue to be the case for at least one more year. And although any time you’re talking about a 72-year-old there’s a chance that retirement is around the corner, all indications are that LeBeau and the Steelers are happy to keep working together beyond 2011.
