Foxsports says he's going to commit tomorrow. Looks like the mom won out. Weird situation UK is much deeper at guard than UCLA is but the mom wanted him closer to home and UK is closer. Good luck to Legion, UCLA could have really used him.

Sounds like Collison situation is clear as mud, Brian Dohn who's a UCLA insider is reporting Collison will announce Wednesday he's staying, and another insider is reporting he's going to declare with no agent on Wednesday.

Who is he???????

Top 50 shooting guard. Was going to Michigan, changed his mind when they fired Amaker. Sonny Vaccaro said that UCLA was going to get another recruit this year, he wsa talking about Legion. But apparently his mom pulled rank and he's going to UK.

Yep and to be honest if UCLA wasn't so thin at guard I'd be ready to tell the kid to take a flying leap. He committed to Michigan originally, then de-committed. The rumor is he told Howland he wanted to go to UCLA, HOwland wasn't convinced he was sincere, and said no. He eventually committed to Michigan again. They fired Amaker, and he said he wanted out of his commitment. His new list included UCLA, UCONN, Kansas, Kentucky and... Michigan! How many times are you going to stiff Michigan? Beilein is a terrific coach. But UCLA needed a guard so I was quite happy to possibly get legion.

Since then his mom publicly said he wasn'g going to UCLA or UCONN, she was fed up with his "adviser" trying to run his life, so she was making the decision. Twice it's been reported UCLA was out, only to have Legion quoted as saying they're not.

Yesterday Foxsports reports he's going to UK, later that day he's quoted as saying I have not made a decision, I don't know where that's coming from, maybe my mom? Then he admits that he's trying to recruit Jai Lucas(John's son) and Patrick Patterson to... UK, which makes it pretty obvious where that rumor is coming from.

he's a kid I'll give him the benefit of the doubt but when a kid is this indecisive it's usually best to bow out IMHO. UCLA is still trying because Darren Collison is still undecided and they want another guard in case he decides to test the waters and leaves ala Farmar.

I hate recruiting.

Well, this didn't last long and there's rumors Legion might not be the only one.

And they're already calling for Gillispie's head in Lexington.

Yep and I read that believe it or not one school legion is considering transferring to is... Michigan. I guess since he signed an LOI but never actually attended them he's not restricted from going back there although he'd have to sit out a year.

If I had to guess I'd say his mom pushed him to UK, and now he's decided he doesn't want to play there? Supposedly he said it's not about playing time.

I was right it's the mom, but not the way I thought. She apparently is the one who called a meeting with Billy G and said he's transferring, then he told Billy he wanted to stay. Then he skipped practice and had another meeting where his mom asked for his release. Rumor is she wants him to go to Michigan which now has people saying the mom is really ruining the sons reputation quickly.

Talented kid but not talented enough for people to keep tolerating his mom if this is true.

SI is reporting that he may return to UK now, apparently he's asked and Gillispie said he's open to it.

Crazy but he is a kid.

Latest report says "Legion to Illinois"

Champaign, IL (Sports Network) - Alex Legion, a 6-foot-4 transfer guard from Kentucky, has reportedly decided to attend the University of Illinois for the second semester of his freshman year.

According the Chicago Tribune, Legion said Saturday that he has chosen Illinois over Notre Dame, among other potential suitors.

Legion, a highly recruited shooting guard out of Inkster, Michigan, played in six games for the Wildcats earlier this season, averaging 6.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest. As a result, he has exhausted his eligibility this season and under NCAA rules will not be able to suit up for the Fighting Illini until the second semester of the 2008-09 season.

The arrival of Legion, a former standout at Detroit Country Day School who spent his senior season at perennial prep power Oak Hill (VA) Academy, will give Illinois some stability at shooting guard.

The Illini lost out on coveted freshman guard Eric Gordon, who de-committed from Illinois only to enroll at Big 10-rival Indiana. A self-imposed redshirt year made junior Jamar Smith a non-factor at the position this season, while Quinton Watkins, a freshman from Compton, California, failed to qualify.
