Apparently it's his high school number. He pointed out that #11 was taken so he's gone back to his high school number.

Not just QB's & football. It's a popular number in pretty much any sport. When I startd my softball team, my only requirement for handling the manager duties was that I got #7. I had 5 other guys trying to get that number from me. It's lucky for a lot of people.

Just watched the video on azcardinals.com...apparently, #7 was his H.S. number, but it was taken when he got to USC, so he used his baseball number - 11.

So, he's come "full circle" by going back to #7.

I guess it is only a jersey number, but I have never liked Fitzgerald wearing #11. I guess I am just used to WR's wearing #'s in the 80's.

i hope they are working on the contract right now. according to espn sports finacial guy he going to get 11.5 to 13.5 million dollars in guanteed money. i say get the deal done and get him in camp. i was listening to torry holt and trent green on contract issue. holt said he told his agent to hurry up and get him a fair deal so he could get to camp. he said it also helps out for your next contract if you are willing to get a deal done. they know that you are willing to work things out. he sounded true and pasinate about that too. you can see it in his body motion and voice. no acting there. if it was give torry holt an oscar.

Negotiations with rookie QBs especially 1st rounders take a while. It'll be fine just as long as he's signed before training camp

Matt Leinart: Financially, going to Arizona at No. 10 is a disaster. Had he turned pro after his junior year, Leinart might have been the first pick in 2005. Alex Smith, last year's No. 1, received $20 million in guarantees. Leinart goes into a slot that last year paid $13.5 million, total, over a five-year contract. Leinart will get a QB premium, and could get around $6 million to $8 million in guarantees.

Jeez what a bargin price were getting Lienhart at. But if he is as good as I think he is. That contract will be tore up soon anyway.

QB Matt Leinart to wear #7 !

(per Arizona Republic):
"Everything happens for a reason, and I am so excited to be here," said Leinart, who will wear No. 7. "The whole process is very hard and I just want to get back to playing football."

Go Cardinals/ America!

Here's to ML being a lot better than the Cardinals last left-handed QB to wear #7.

So, they added a black outline to the lettering? I like it but, um, I JUST bought a new authentic jersey last year and it's already outdated. :(

Anyone know if I can somehow change my lettering?

Poor Kurt, he is going to see a lot of #7's walking around the stadium as this is the 1st QBOF to be excited about since Jake. This was the best thing that could happen after the draft as Matt was the only QB that could be drafted as the future yet proabably do OK as the 2nd stringer if needed. Money can now be spent elsewhere instead of adding a veteran QB like Collins.

I heard one of ESPN's talking heads say the same thing, that Leinart might have slipped in 2005 and that his decision to stay at USC might not have affected his draft position, but that's just ridiculous. If SF had the choice between Leinart & Alex Smith, does anyone really think they would've passed over Leinart? NO WAY.
