I stated that I didn't even think that he is worth our 1st round pick. I am starting to concede a little.

From: nfldraftcountdowm.com They have him ranked as the number 1 CB

Leodis McKelvin
Height: 5-101/4 | Weight: 190 | 40-Time: 4.38

Official Bio

Strengths:
Very athletic...Has good size...Excellent timed speed with a burst to close...A solid tackler...Outstanding footwork...Great hands...Has fluid hips and is smooth in his transition...Natural man coverage skills...True playmaker who is a threat to take it the distance every time he gets his hands on the ball...Also a dynamic return man.

Weaknesses:
Relatively marginal instincts and anticipation...He doesn't have a lot of experience bumping at the line...Could do a better job in zone coverage...Too aggressive and plays a little out of control at times...Did not always play against elite competition.

Notes:
Hails from the same college program that produced Osi Umenyiora and DeMarcus Ware...For his career he averaged 13.1 yards per punt return with 7 touchdowns and 23.7 yard per kick return with one touchdown...Named to several All-American teams after averaging 17.4 yards and with 3 TD's as a punt returner in '07...Draft stock soared as a senior and quietly emerged as one of the best prospects at his position..Has starting potential as a corner and should be a top-notch return man.

He doesn't have a lot of experience bumping at the line.

Don't we have enough of these?

I think he is the best CB in the draft and will be long gone by the time will pick. If he were available, I would hope that the team sprints to the podium to select him.

Don't you think that might change if we get some decent corners?

No. Rolle's strength coming out of college was playing a physical, bump and run style type defense, and we rarely used him in that regard. I don't think it is a major part of Pendy's defensive scheme.

I wish we would change. I get so tired of watching the WR's come off the line, catch a 5 yard pass and get 8 - 10 yards out of it. That's the reason why we give up so many first downs.

If McKelvin is available at 16 I'd hope the Cards rep would pull a hamstring trying to get to the podium so quickly with our pick.

Both your posts are dead on from my vantage point. The guy will be the first CB taken. I would be shocked if he isn't. If are lucky Jenlkins will be there for us...but I doubt that as well.

Both Jenkins and Talib will be there at #16 so it'll be one of those three taken by the Cards. McKelvin and DRC won't be there.

thanks for the info guys. It sounds like he might not be there for us at 16, but I saw alot of Talib last year and he looked good at times, seem to take alot of chances though, but it seems thats a knock on alot of corners coming out of college.

I'll be suprised if the Ravens don't jump all over McKelvin at #8, no chance we get a shot at him. McKelvin can play off extremely well, but isn't that physical, go figure, none of the top 4 corners this year are. He could go as high as #7 to the Pats, and won't fall past #8 the Ravens, cuz S. Rolle isn't what he use to be, heck McAlister is 30 and isn't what he use to be either, but still damn good imho. McKelvin would make Baltimores Defense MUCH better and give them a better nickel and dime game this season.

I think Jenkins will go at 10 or possibly to the Lions, we'll choose from DRC and Talib at Corner. I'd rank all 4 in that order as well. I'm hoping Jenkins is there, that'd be a huge gift for us imho.

He has the #1 measurement needed to be a draftnik favorite: a cool sounding name.

Moms who name their son John, Jim or Mike are unfairly handicapping that kid's ability to play professional sports.

My two all-time favorites are Baskerville Holmes, the Louisville basketball player and Happy Feller, a Texas field goal kicker.

Kind of like Englebert Humperdink in the music field.

I'd draft Happy Feller with our last pick just because....
