Very interested in watching him play --

highly rated guy, but the Buckeyes when nuts and completed a ton of passes

then he doesnt do anything tonight, and Dwayne Jarrett goes off

he looks like the current Cardinal crop of DBs-- plays 9 yards off the LOS and still the WR runs past him

I say pass

I agree. Not very impressive, the entire Michigan secondary was very ordinary.

zero interest.....we need to search free agency for a cb, not the draft.

Exactly, people keep forget about the learning curve for CBs. If we draft a CB now more then likely he wouldn't help us for a few years at a top level.

Nate Clements and Asante Samuel can help us now

Dwayne Jarrett is a big time talent though. He's much, much better than the attention he gets, IMO.

Zero interest in him whatsoever. Not an elite prospect by any means. In any other year he'd be a mid-to-late first rounder.

He's going to get passed in the draft by several corners, led by Antoine Cason.

But yes sir, Jarrett is a big time talent...

USC makes many defensive teams look very poor. Still shocked they lost to
UCLA.

I heard through the sportcasters that Keyshawn Johnson said that Dwayne Jarrett is not ready for the NFL and should return to USC for his senior year because he isn't physical enough. He stated that Jarrett is very talented but would struggle in NFL next year if he comes out.

The interesting part is that the sportscasters disagreed with Johnson's analysis but stated Mike Williams was someone who wasn't ready and made a huge mistake declaring early.

Cason did a great job on Jarrett. Cason followed Jarrett around and limited him to 4 catches for 36 yds and a TD. The TD was very well defended but Jarrett came down with it.

I think what really hurt Williams more than declaring early was that he had to sit out of football entirely for a full season. He got a little fat, and he's never really been the same. Another guy who got screwed by Clarett.

If we draft a CB I hope that it is Antoine Cason.

Of course I bet those same guys thought Williams was ready when he filed. Jarrett is similar to Williams, he's faster than BMW but by no means a blazer, that he ran by Hall that easily was pretty telling about Hall's speed. Jarrett reminds me a lot of Fitz but not quite as good with the hands, maybe a bit more explosive. I think he'll be a very good NFL WR.

Williams problems seem to mainly be he's so immature that he simply doesn't put in the effort it takes. Most accounts are that Jarrett is a much harder worker. Jarrett is good, based on what I saw yesterday Calvin Johnson is much better because he's much more explosive. I'd love to see Jarrett stick around but he probably won't. But then a lot of USC juniors are saying they're coming back so maybe Jarrett does too?

Did you also hear Musburger say that Carroll told him that he always thought Williams was too slow for the NFL? That's not like a coach to say things like that about ex-players.

The other Mich player I really wanted to watch was Lamar Woodley - DE/OLB tweener who can rush the passer -- and a guy who might be there at the top of round 2

I thought he looked great against Ohio St, but against USC -- unimpressed.

I think that's because Pete knew Mike wanted to go early if he could, and he was being honest with him you're not fast enough to dominate there like you do here, you gotta become a better overall player. My guess is Carroll uses BMW as an example to his current team about why they shouldn't all just jump early to the NFL?

One of the things people forget is that before Clarett got the injunction that led to Williams jumping to the nFL draft, his USC teammates, including Leinart, were openly criticizing him for saying publicly the team had gotten too lax when he himself wasn't putting forth the effort.

I agree with AJ the year off just killed Williams, he was already apparently a take the easy way out kind of kid and after that year he was just not mentally prepared for the demands of the NFL. I still think the kid has talent, great hands, but I don't think he'll ever do anything in Detroit he simply wore out his welcome there.
