Oh well! The rich get richer.
Disagree. The idea is to build. We sat out FA. We have lots of draft picks. We have huge needs at some key positions. Always a good time to add.If we were sitting on top of the division maybe we would make some moves. At 1-7 the only moves we might make is trading away players.
Right? .... aaand... if it were true...taking the decision away from the player by acquiring them through trade would be exactly the move to counter that.Pretty stupid to count on free agency to add talent when people argue that no one wanted to go to your franchise in year 1, and your record is just as bad in heading into year 2.
Seattle is paying more in draft capital (2 & 5) for the salary offset - the cost of acquisition and him being in the last year of his deal are concerns - I think he can be a nice piece for them thoughShefty say Giants are paying 10 million of his salary. We are falling further behind.
We need defensive linemen worse than any other team so yes we could have used him. I am always for adding and keeping talent not letting it go or not acquiring any. Next season will show us if Monti is worth anything. If he screws the pooch again he should be fired.
Maybe. But he is better than most DL players in the NFL. You don't really win Super Bowls or compete over long periods of time by being cautious. You have to take some risks. The NFC West does it as good or better than most.Seahawks will realize he is not what they think he is
You aren't building with pending free agents. You aren't building with Leonard Williams, an almost 30 year old with a nearly average pass rush win rate (13%) who faces the five least double teams at DT.Disagree. The idea is to build. Conceivably they could get a 3rd round comp picks though. But Williams hasnt been that good this season so the Giants go a lot for him.If he re-signs, great move. If not, they paid a 2nd and 5th round pick for a rental.
They are in 1st place right now and are tied for the 2nd best record in the NFC. They are adding talent which is what teams who want to compete do. Its a dumb trade for the Seahawks.
This isn't betting on CMC. Williams has underachieved for awhile now. He plays next to a guy who commands near constant double teams and he produces average production. They are in 1st place right now and are tied for the 2nd best record in the NFC. LW is a better version of NKemdiche and that is not saying muchi think its a good trade for the remainder of the year
giving up a 2nd for a pending UFA puts real pressure on the FO to resign him afterwards.....
the other thing: Leonard Williams has had two teams in his first fours years trade him
I'd agree if Williams was better than Jarran Reed and Jones, their other DT, but he isn't.i think its a good trade for the remainder of the year
