OK, my friend's wife told me this one earlier today. She said that the singer, Brandy, is dating Quentin Richardson. My friend's wife saw Brandy on some talkshow... Brian Sebring or something like that. They were talking about Quentin Richardson's contract situation, and Brandy asked if he could keep a secret. She then said that they were going to be in Phoenix.

I debated about whether or not to even post this. Please don't give me any crap about it. :)

I doubt if many rumors even have this much information behind them. :D

Just for the sake of argument, how would they know? Even if the Clippers have made up their minds already, there's no reason they'd tell Richardson.

Brandy probably just knows that he signed an offer sheet to Phoenix. She probably means that that's where he's going. How would she know?

Unfortunately, my aunts landscaper is friends with an intern at Brandy's hair salon, and she overheard Brandy saying she is staying in LA. Oh well.

No wait, she's an intern for Monica. Sorry. :)

Joe, next time can we have a more deceptive title? I am not used to people actually putting the real credibility in the subject line, threw me for a loop ;)

I would shocked to find that the Clippers have decided. I think if they had, it would have leaked, but I think they are still thinking about it.

What are they thinking about? Perhaps they are looking for teams to give them players and pay for the privilage (cash and draft picks along with the players).

Its a 100% gurantee that the Clippers will wait to the last moment on whether they will match or not.. But we shall see

Info is usually leaked about larger market teams. It's funny how no one really knew that Phoenix really wanted nash that badly or that we were going to draft amare or (to a lesser extent) the marbury and kidd trades. Why? I think party it's because the C's are really discreet about their plans, but also because people dont care as much about the suns as they do about LALA or NY. It wouldnt surprise me if Sterling has already made a decision, but you never know I guess.

The Amare draft was real cloak and dagger stuff with lots of disinformation. It was never a secret that the Knicks wanted Marbury, but no one expected them to make such a huge offer.

By contrast, the Suns interest in Nash was well publicized for a least a month prior to the start of free agency. Mark Cuban's weblog made it clear that he felt the Suns were the only serious suitors. The surprise was not their interest, but the amount of money they offered.

As for general interest, I think the Suns have popped up on the rumor boards quite often over the last several months. Nothing like the New York area teams, but a lot more than I would have expected. I even started a thread discussing it, but we never came to a clear explanation of why.

ah, apparently none of you heard of the "brandy clause" in q's offer sheet. that was the poison pill the colangeli included. she has ultimate say whether or not the clips match. it was ingenious.

Frank Johnson was busy talking up Jared Jeffries leading up to the draft. Jeffries went two picks later, but no one noticed because everyone was stunned the Suns took Amare.

I think the reason is two fold.

1) The Suns had a large amount of capspace this Summer.
2) The Suns have a history of making trades. If you charted player movement by teams over the last 10 or so years, I'd wager the Suns would be in the top 20% easily.

We discussed those. Some others:

-- The Suns are an up and coming team with an emerging superstar
-- Echos of the Marbury trade - it was obviously setting up future moves
-- Leaks: the Suns DID make an offer for T-Mac (just not the one reported), they were considering Kobe until it became clear he wasn't going to leave LA, and they really were interested in Nash.
-- Agent's trial balloons - Okur's agent apparently pushed the Suns as an option in an effort to force a bigger deal. The same was true with Camby.

Right, but those you just listed either relate to number one or number two.
