But that doesn't mean that they are right. It also doesn't mean that you are right either.
Oh no, I’m definitely right.

(Kind of a silly comment - all of this is conjecture to a point so you could say that about literally every post on ASFN)

I agree but trying to stay positive.
I was just thinking earlier.

At the beginning of the season. How many wins did everyone on this board think the Cardinals would have? I understand expectations change but how many wins did you guys think the Cards would have this season? Also, what honestly did you expect to see from Kyler Murray?

Me personally:
9-8 (at best)
6-11 (at worst)
Didn't expect Kyler Murray to play like he did the first half of the season at all. Kinda just expected him to show he could play in the NFL after 2 seasons. I'm a Murray fan (But then again I was a big Doug Flutie fan, another guy everyone said was to short to be an NFL QB).
Just curious what everyone else expected from the season and did the Cards do better than what you picked at the start of the season? or worse?
I had em between 7-10. So they exceeded my initial expectations by a game. But by mid season everyone should’ve adjusted those expectations. At 10-2 that team should’ve probably gone 13-4 at a minimum and won at least a playoff game. Surely they shouldn’t have finished 1-4 and then gotten obliterated.

Great post thanks...

To be honest. Until this year and all the media attention. I honestly was not aware of Kliff Kingsbury's record of late season failures.
NICE that you are so specific. It's wierd saying but I often thought that the games the Cardinals won was Only because they outscored other teams.
Kliff and Kyler definitely did fall off at the end of the season (that's for sure).
What struck ME the most though is that over the past 2 seasons. It seems as though the Defense has been the problem for the Cards late season collapses. It's almost like if Kyler and Kliff don't put up 30+ points then the Cards are gonna lose. Wierd ! !

You had an 11 win ceiling though. You definitely went into the season with more faith than me lol...

When reflecting on the playoff loss to the Rams. I think if the Rams would have scored 17 or 21 points, then at least the loss would have been respectable. But it's highly unlikely to beat a team that puts up 34 points.
It’s a little tougher to outscore the other team when your offense scores for the other team on itself.

Boyd had great(er) seasons before Burrow so probably not with him. Higgins was still good post-Burrow injury.

Boyd had greater seasons because there was no Higgins and no Chase for most of them. There's only 1 ball.

Lol... he had “the worst 400 yard game ever”. Do you have any idea how ridiculous these defenses of Kyler sound? And what if Kyler’s frame means you’re likely NEVER going to see a healthy QB. Guys get banged up and don’t totally crater the way Kyler did in year 2. And to be honest whether that’s physical or mental, it doesn’t matter all that much because physicality will always be a problem and based on his statements this year, he’s definitely deficient in the mental aspects of the game. Maybe that will change, but he’s continuing to crap the bed on the mental side of the sport with this social media fiasco.

And let's just ignore the fact that Kyler insisted several times he wasn't injured. As did Kliff. And he never appeared on a single injury report.

McCoy played great. Seattle were without both starting corners. Jamal Adams proved once again to be a liability

Also helps that after the disastrous Panthers game most thought Kyler was coming back. Panthers were the only team who openly prepared for Colt I believe.

Still McCoy got it done. Great game by him.

You're really saying the difference was D.J Reed playing in the 2nd game? Purleeeese.

Kyler and his agent do not want to be in the situation Baker Mayfield is in. They really want to get paid now and not have to worry if he has another late season crumble or injury or further plateau.

He should have worked harder then.

He doesn't get to hang his hat on his Neo type ability to "See everything" and then demand an early deal when it craps the bed because he didn't study enough.

If he spent less time playing COD and more time studying film he could have earned his early deal, but he didn't.

Nobody said it's just a QB issue. Some folks won't admit there is in any way, shape, or form a single issue with the QB, which is driving the argument here. There are multiple issues, except some folks want to pawn it off on everyone else on and around the team.

If we could have Tampa's wide receiving corps, the Cowboys O line and the Brown's running backs then Kyler would be awesome. It's Keim's fault for not assembling an All pro offense that could fully expose Kyler's potential.

Apparently, AJ Green

2020 35 catches 357 Yards 35.7 YPG 1TD 10 YPC (would be 571 yards over 16 games wtih Burrow)

2021 49 catches 766 yards 3 tds 15.7 YPC
You must be registered for see images attach

Or it could just be, I don't know, that Green was always that player and Burrow struggled as a rookie adjusting to new players and a new system as most players do?

Despite your perceived gripes he’s earned the extension. That’s the market. Any functional organization (that doesn’t include our screwed up org) would’ve already started working up a new contract or at least put something together verbally.

The only extension he's earned is about 3 years at $30m per.

That's what he's earned.

If he want's Allen and Mahomes money and 6 years at $45m then no he hasn't earned it. Huge lol is hasn't earned it. Anyone who think he has needs their head looking at.

If he wants to sign for 3 additional years at $30m per then crack on.

Sounds to me like both have heard criticism about their play on SM so they are getting rid of all of their social media because they don't want the distraction.

Well no, because his Twitter is still there and about 1000x more criticism comes from Twitter than Insta.

I get we all have issues with the FO but the nonsense about "We should have started talks with Kyler already and they probably haven't" or "Keim sucks and probably low balled Kyler" is garbage.

Lamar Jackson had a 30-7 record through 3 years. An MVP, 1st team All Pro and Pro Bowl in his 1st 2 seasons and 3 post season trips in his first 3 years. And didn't get a 3rd year extension and didn't cry like a whiny bitch about it.

Kyler Murray is Baker Mayfield through 3 season without the wheels. Here's how Baker compares to Kyler through his first 3 seasons.

Win record practically the same. Yards, barely anything in it. Passer rating, barely anything in it. TD's barely anything in it. Y/A practically the same.

As a passer they are practically identical. The only significant difference is Baker's 43 INT's vs Kyler's 34 and comp %.

And Baker didn't get a 3rd year extension either.

Bingo. I have to say, @BritCard, you have certainly shown the ability to trust your eyes with this team. We still disagree on some things, but I like how you call 'em like you see 'em.

Imagine if Murray has lost faith in Kingsbury, and that is why he is creating a bit of a stir. Who do Bidwill keep? I tend to think Murray.

Coaches are easier to find than QB's. But also you can't let your QB, especially a 3rd year QB that has done nothing, dictate who you hire and fire.

When Colt played the niners we were missing...what was it?... six? Offensive starters? No DHop, that was the point. He is being used as an excuse for Murray when McCoy put together an awesome game without him...or edmonds, or Moore.....or half the line.

I said I thought Colt played great, that's not an excuse. But he did not play against the same defense you can't just say those 2 games prove something because it wasn't the same defense

True. And then you google it and you find basically everyone that covers the ravens says the same thing ,the reason Jackson doesn't already have an extension is HE and HIS AGENT are delaying it. And the problem is his agent is... Lamar Jackson. he's one of 17 NFL players that don't have an agent, and he appears to think by delaying the extension the numbers will get bigger and make up for delaying the start. It sounds like a math error to me but maybe he knows what he's doing.

"I think, at this point, I would say that we're working at Lamar's pace," DeCosta said. "He's comfortable where we are right now."
That was DeCosta's most insightful answer, and it has left pundits trying to read the tea leaves.
"Team officials have confidently framed it as a matter of when, and not if, a new deal gets done with Jackson," ESPN's Jamison Hensley wrote. "But for a second straight offseason, there's no indication that a long-term commitment to Jackson is imminent. So, what's the hold up?"
"There was no mention of prioritizing Jackson's deal, of it being a front-burner issue or of the organization working tirelessly to get it done," The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec added. "The Ravens appear to be taking the stance that they are ready and willing, but that it's largely up to Jackson to accelerate the talks."

The understanding seems to be that it's Jackson – not the Ravens – who is delaying a contract extension. But why?
DeCosta said it has been an "unusual" negotiation because he's been dealing with Jackson directly. According to Hensley, Jackson is one of just 17 NFL players not represented by a traditional sports agent. Jackson has on numerous occasions declined to shed light on who is advising him.

On my phone last night an article popped up saying Larry Fitzgerald had suggested that Kyler might be looking for a trade. read the entire dumb article and essentially the "author" took a quote from Larry at some golf tournament and created an entire drama. Fitz said he hopes it works out best for both parties, and from that the "author" concluded that Fitz was saying Murray wants to be traded.

They don't know, they want people to click on their article and this kind of stuff is perfect.

He's not wrong, the more he delays the more money he earns. The 3rd year extensions are usually a team choice, not the players, for that reason.

That doesn't take away the point though. 3rd year extensions are rare, and usually reserved for players that have already proven themselves as sure things. Which Kyler hasn't.

It depends though, Lamar "only" made 3 million last year. if he had taken a 3rd year extension he would have made 8 to 10 times that. This year if he gets a franchise he'll get it appears 22 million which again is less than he would get if he took the extension. Say the market after year 3 was 30, just a guess, that's 27 million he lost last year and 8 milllion this year. 35 million. Now let's say he gets an extension at 40 after this year it still takes him 4 years to make back that 35 million and I don't think Jackson is a sure thing to get 40 or whatever, he's never played a full season and the reason is obvious for him to be effective he has to run often and he gets hurt as a result of all that running. He's the most run dependent QB in the NFL. If you were to give me a list of the top QB's in the NFL under 30 and say one of them won't be playing in 3 years guess which one, my first 5 guesses would be Lamar Jackson for that reason alone.

I agree not everyone gets a 3rd year extension my point is if that's what Kyler wants, he has a perfect right to ask for it. The Cards would have a perfect right to not grant it. The problem is again if you've been a fan long enough you know the Cards history with contracts, it may not be fair to the current Bidwill but the legacy of his dad is a problem he has to deal with. IT would not surprise me at all if Kylers agent is testing the waters right now, how committed are they to you, what plan do they have in place. in 2 years are we going to be in the same situation waiting for them to put together a roster with depth? D Hop will be 2 years older, ertz and conner will be gone.

I don't think he's trying to force his way out I do think he may be asking them to do what NFL teams ask coaches to do when they interview, lay out a plan. That's what Caldwell did in Chicago that was reported, he told them this is the offense I'm going to run, this is how I'm going to develop Fields, this is my list for DC, this is my suggestions for what I think you need to focus on in the draft and FA. The Bears ultimately didn't hire him but my gut tells me maybe that's what Kyler wants from the Cards, convince me there's a plan here beyond just fill the holes from FA, have another meh draft.

It doesn't work like that. The extensions are always only new money. They still factor in the 4th and 5th year of their rookie deals.

Kyler does have a right to ask and the Mike has a right to say no, and Kyler has the right to ask for more details.

What he shouldn't be doing is childish crap like he is doing. That's just out of line. Handle it like a man, not a kid, and deal with it behind closed doors. I'd be pissed off at this if it was a safety or tight end but your starting QB? They are supposed to lead by example and set the tone. This isn't the tone he should be setting.

yeah sorry you're right there I was forgetting it doesn't tear up the rookie deal just extends it. He would get more money in those years in signing bonus etc but it wouldn't convert 3 to 30 you're correct

Or you see on the other side of the coin where he was the only legitimate weapon on his team(ala, having all the attention on him) with an average at best QB throwing him the ball. If his production went up with Joe, your point would be accurate, but it didn’t.
